I had just watched Dan's video as well and looked up Paris to Venice (as i can not remember where everyone lives) only 9 and some hour. Then i see the Canadian driving and think well this will be a long day, but he takes his time and does it in two days. Keep the Canadians proud drives are measured in Hours not distance.

Venice is indescribable. We loved every part of it. The Doges Palace had a wonderful Dutch Masters exhibit at no extra cost that was amazing. Steve will be in heaven.

Venice is a more is more the aesthetic city . There is a massive gold and jeweled icon behind the main alter in fully gold mosaic tiled cathedral, worth the effort and the extra euros.

Venice is one of my favorite cities in the world. Seeing the glass blower is a real treat. One one trip I ordered 12 goblet with cobalt trim. It took 18 months for them arrive in Los Angeles but no one was happier than me.

What you rode into Venice in is called a vaporetto. It is like a water bus which carries people all over, and to and from, Venice. A traghetto is more like an actual ferry. Traghetti (pl.) are over-large gondolas that ferry people back and forth across the Grand Canal in places where there are no available bridges. Enjoy your first visit to Venice. It is a memory that will stay with you always.❤

I also love driving through the Alps in Switzerland and Austria, did it a couple times over 10 years ago for work! It's so incredibly beautiful! Also it's great taking the train, while looking out the window it's a constant pristine nature postcard !!! AND, Yes! Venezia! Wow, one week. I'm so happy you are there to share Carnival with us all - it has been a dream for me to attend. I was in Venice a couple times this summer wandering around and taking tons of photos. Tip: You can rent a little motor boat on your own without any special license and drive around all the canals within!!! Enjoy!!!!

When we lived in Germany, we also drove everywhere… Switzerland, Italy, Austria, everywhere! The scenery was always part of the fun and we still take road trips across the U.S. . Hi from The Woodlands, TX.

I loved my visit with my daughter when we visited Venice, she was in her last year of her photography exams and I thought what better place to visit than Venice for some wonderful pictures for her final exams, she gain the highest percentage given by the teacher and received a A* which she had worked hard for and the holiday was a success too, Enjoy you time together and don't get lost in those little streets if you have a chance take a gondola around to the other side it is much quieter and the building are stunning too. xx

Driving through the alps is a lot easier than taking elephants over the pass - although he didn't do it in winter did he? He missed the festival too, oh well you can't have everything. Waiting in keen anticipation to see your elegant festival creations

How lucky to have an entire week in such a magical place! I love how you can just wander, map in pocket or purse, and not worry about getting hopelessly lost - it’s small enough and so self-contained that a few minutes with your map when you eventually need to get somewhere specific, and you can find your way there quickly. ♥️♥️♥️ I only had part of a day (on a trip where I learned the importance of careful travel companion selection), but I still think of it as one of my favorite places and hope to go back someday. The alps are great too. Even at the end when he had lost many of his memories, Dad would tell his story of his trip in the alps. He missed the last train back from the gondola up the mountain, and had to take a ferry across a mountain lake to make a different connection - he told everyone to relax while traveling, a mistake can lead to a great experience you never would have thought of. 🙂♥️

When I went to Venice I was 12 or 13 and still remember it. Beside the magic, one key memory (in the summertime) was a pervasive rank smell of the canals. Apparently there are loads of leaning bell towers, due to the difficulty of finding stable ground to build on.

Such a fantastic beautiful drive. Yes air ravel is so convenient, an aerial view can be enjoyable, looking down on the mountain tops, but by road there are more details and you can stop and enjoy something hot is desired. The scenery was breath taking!! The roads seem to be in a very good condition making driving a pleasure. Yes, to appreciate the ancient history of Italy, you have to visit and see the details in person. I am sure the meals are outstanding and the flavours wonderful, we always have the most wonderful conversations with reference to the History of Europe, from the high's to the low's. The wars, the uprising, the various kings and queens of the time, my it is unbelievable but it happened and that shaped the world. Venice is so amazing, I am sure you will have a mind blowing experience. You could return for more than one visit. Enjoy a wonderful time, so glad to share it with you and thanks for showing. Awww my favourite city. My first visit nearly 50 years ago was by train from Garda and it was an unattractive urban view until - I turned towards the canal and every Canaletto was laid before me. Truly beautiful.
