This is a great rendition of that tune, but, as the intro shows, the chief credit should be given to the composer and the original performer, S. African guitarist Steve Eliovson, who died a couple of years ago. Steve put out a single album on ECM records, Dawn Dance, which has remained in the hearts and souls of tens of thousands of jazz lovers with big ears and an open mind who have been lucky enough to come across it. Sadly, because of accidental mishaps and psychological issues, Eliovson faded into oblivion.
