@@venicerealm Todd LaTorre didn't record an album with Queensryche until 2013. Anything before 2013 is Geoff Tate. In fact, Geoff Tate released an album under the name Queensryche in 2013, then a few months later Queensryche with Todd LaTorre released an album under the name Queensryche.

The original lineup of Queensrÿche consisted of guitarists Michael Wilton and Chris DeGarmo, drummer Scott Rockenfield, bassist Eddie Jackson, and lead vocalist Geoff Tate. So the guitar solos were done by both Chris and Michael. Separately and together. And Eddie playing the bass throughout. These five guys writing and playing together was pure magic.

Hello, again ^^ Queensryche... The greatest around this Band definitely is and always was their Live Performances! Wich shows how good this Band really was live And what's always made the difference to all other Bands. The only Band that always sounded live better as on their Studio Records. Back this time nobody - really nobody (!) - could believe it! Nobody expected something like this could ever happened live. Nobody imagined this. But than... There was Queensryche. An new level. A new Dimension. To your video you reacted too... Here is the Live Version of this Song. Taken from their Live DVD Operation Livecrime! This start into this song! Absolutely mindblowing! Just listen carefully to Geoff Tate's speaking Words right before the Song will start! Goosebumps everywhere! And when all of your neck hairs of your back stands up all together, while listening to this guy. This gives me Shivers. Still... Untill today! m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/favbZYuweax6jKc

There must have been some mixup with the timeline you were looking at. All the songs on Operation Mindcrime were recorded at the same time, and Geoff Tate was the lead vocalist for all the songs. Also, Silent Lucidity and Anybody Listening? are from the album Empire. Geoff Tate was the vocalist for those songs as well. I enjoyed your commentary. Well done!

@Bolo20282 жыл бұрын
@@venicerealm I am not sure why it says that. The band members were the same for the whole album, and it was recorded at the same time. If you compare the videos for Eyes of a Stranger and I Don’t Believe in Love, you may recognize the same people in both. Also, unless I misheard, the information you read from seemed to omit Chris DeGarmo, who was one of the guitar players and backing vocalists, and also one of the main lyricists and song writers. DeGarmo and Tate were the members of the band most responsible for the group’s sound and success.

I looked into it a bit more, and found out that a new version of I Don’t Believe in Love was released on the Frequency Unknown album. That album was released in 2013, so that explains it. The video you reacted to featured the original 1988 version.

Queensryche started as a heavy metal band in the early 80's in Seattle, but what differentiated them sonically from their peers at the time was their 'darkness' and their progressive influences. This was the studio version from 1988... the original Queensryche was considered the best, but they didn't last... Geoff Tate (vocals), Chris DeGarmo & Michael Wilton (guitars), Eddie Jackson (bass) & Scott Rockenfield (drums). Chris DeGarmo was the band's key songwriter and band leader... "Operation: Mindcrime" was a concept story that Geoff Tate came up w/ about a heroin-addicted assassin 'Nikki', his sinister employer 'Dr. X' and his partner 'Sister Mary' ...it became Queensryche's first platinum hit. In the 90's Queensryche started to deviate away from metal music and embrace more of the 90's style of rock music... DeGarmo wrote the '97 album 'Hear in the now frontier' which was not a success... Disillusioned w/ the music business after the end of their label, Chris DeGarmo shocked fans by announcing in 1998 that he was leaving Queensryche. He has since quit playing music entirely... Rather than split up, Queensryche opted to continue... Geoff Tate, Michael Wilton, Eddie Jackson & Scott Rockenfield regrouped in 1999, added guitarist Kelly Gray and released the album 'Q2K'... but that didn't last either. Chris DeGarmo co-wrote their 2003 album 'Tribe', but Mike Stone (guitar) was added to the band for touring & recording. From 2005, Geoff Tate and his wife Susan controlled the Queensryche organization, and a sequel album 'Operation: Mindcrime II' was released in 2006, but producer Jason Slater was playing the guitars and Tate used studio musicians on the album... Subsequent Queensryche records also fell short creatively and commercially... Parker Ludgren (guitar) was added to the band's line-up in 2011. Creative & business frustrations led to Susan Tate being fired by the other Queensryche members... Geoff Tate was furious and lashed out at the members on stage. He was fired in 2012 shortly after a disastrous show at Rocklahoma. Michael Wilton (guitar) had met Todd LaTorre (vocals) earlier, and talked about forming a new band... but after a couple of successful shows billed as 'Rising West'... Queensryche members Wilton, Jackson & Rockenfield (w/ Lundgren) decided to carry on as Queensryche in 2012 w/ Todd LaTorre as the new singer. Geoff Tate sued the band for the Queensryche name, but eventually settled, giving up his claim to the name and logo. He still performs Queensryche songs w/ his solo band on tour. Queensryche recorded 2 new albums w/ Todd LaTorre on vocals by 2015, and demand for the band had been rejuvenated from the last few Tate records... Scott Rockenfield (drums) took a break in 2017, but did not return... Queensryche recorded their last album w/ Todd LaTorre playing drums in the studio, and Casey Grillo (drums) was added to the touring Queensryche. During the pandemic, guitarist Parker Lundgren got involved w/ other business ventures, and announced in 2021 he was leaving the band. Which brings us to the present... Queensryche is recording a new album, and touring w/ guitarist Mike Stone playing shows again. Michael Wilton (guitar), Eddie Jackson (bass) & Todd LaTorre (vocals) are the current Queensryche w/ Casey Grillo (drums) and Mike Stone (guitar)

Not sure about all of the confusing information but I haven't heard you mention the actual 2nd guitarist of the band during this era. His name is Chris DeGarmo. That is his voice you are heaing harmonizing with Geoff. Chris also wrote the song Silent Lucidity which you mentioned you are reacting to next. It DOES get confusing when you have band members changing at some point. TODD DID take over vocals for QR after Geoff left in 2012-ish, and if you find a LIVE version of this song AFTER that date it will be TODD singing. But THIS is the official music video. It was made in 1988 ( just like "Eyes of a Stranger"), and this IS GEOFF singing again. He may look and sound a little different to you here, but once you've heard his style over several songs, you will be more able to recognize his voice. But Geoff changes hair styles a lot (as I mentioned before) so that may throw you off a bit. You noticed that Geoff''s voice (thinking it was Todd) sounded deeper here. In Geoff''s prime he had about a 4-octive range! On QR's earlier albums, Geoff sang predominately in his higher range, but on later songs, he incorporated more of his lower range. I love that variety of high and low that really adds a lot to their songs. You noticed that many times they favor a softer, melodic intro, and then blow you away with a very intense chorus. You caught that. And yes, when that harmony kicks in...wow! And Eddie's galloping bass is fantastic! Yes, they did have a bass, who is Eddie. I think you just read the wrong info for this song and it was confusing. When you get to "Silent Lucidity" and "Anybody Listening" these will also be the same original five band members that you've been listening to. Good thoughts about the meaning of the lyrics, but ....not entirely. Gotta hear that whole album. BUT, on Monday, when you do "Silent Lucidity", THEN you'll have a fair shot at analyzing the lyrics, since that song is NOT part of an extended story. Love your enthusiasm! Keep it coming!

Yes i think cause it said 2013 i was really confused but the fact that Geoff also had deeper vocal parts in this song and another different hairstyle didn't help me identify that it is actually him 😅😊🙏 thank you for clearing things and i am glad i was able to come close to the meaning in the most part

Just to set you straight here. Geoff and the band were intact from their beginning...starting in the early 80s through the lead guitarist Chris Degarmo leaving the band in 1998. A while after that Geoff also left the band when they had some legal disputes.... but by that point they weren't the same band anyways after Chris left and have never been what they were through the first two decades of existence when Geoff was the lead singer. As an aside Chris left it being because he had a young family with a young daughter and he had always wanted to be a Jet Pilot (already had a pilots license) and he literally quit the band to become a 747 Jet pilot.

I think the Queensryche singer sounds the way he does because he grew up listening to a certain type of music. I'm guessing he spent his formative years as a teenager in the 1970s listening to Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest, Genesis and similar bands. This is why when modern singers try to replicate this style something sounds "off". They haven't lived through the same period and had the same influences that he and singers of his ilk have had, so of course their immitation sounds synthetic as they do not have the same frame of reference.

This came out in the 80s. It was their classic lineup at this time, so most of what you’re saying about the background of this is not factual. Don’t feel bad though, you can always do another video to set the record straight… or not. The confusion might be stemming from the fact that they did do an Operation Mind Crime sequel album which by most accounts was not great, so most of what you’re saying might be right about the band at the time part two came out, but I stopped following the band after Empire. I guess you’re more up on the horrible things that happened with this band a lot further down the road than I am.
