There's a town Aruppukkottai near Madurai. They have a very unique yet simple dishes. My paati makes mochai paruppu. Mochai paiyaru is soaked overnight and the next day, the outer layer will be removed to get mochai paruppu. Then it's cooked and given a different tadka with little coconut masala. Eating the rice with this dal with a blob of ghee, is heaven.

Mochai Parappu Sadam... Lovely and delicious recepe. I tried this recepe with fresh mochaikkai since it is now a seasonal bean.
