When you say middle number, are you referring to the center (intersection of all three circles)? If you are, then you would need some other piece of information to derive the middle one. There isn't an exact method of doing that. With a situation like that, it's like playing Soduku. You try something and see if it works. It's also possible you're not given enough info to find it. I have a simple example with two circles like that. It's called Final Exam #23.

You'll need to add the numbers in the regions that represent exactly two magazines (meaning the number is in two circles, but not the third). The regions that read exactly two magazines are the 8, 6, and 11.

Here it is : A recent survey taken at a cinema asked teenagers what they thought about three different movies. In total, 47 liked ‘Hairy Potter’, 25 liked ‘Stuporman’ and 52 liked ‘There’s Something About Fred’. 16 liked ‘Hairy Potter’ only. 4 liked ‘Stuporman’ only. 27 liked ‘There’s Something About Fred’ only. There were 11 who liked all three films and 10 who liked none of them. A.)Construct a Venn diagram showing the results of the survey. B.)What is the probability that a teenager chosen at random liked ‘Hairy Potter’ and ‘Stuporman’ but not ‘There’s Something About Fred’?

Your style problem is different than mine. There's actually enough information to solve it but it will take some guessing at the end. Normally you would have some information about the pairings. For example, "19 liked Harry Potter and Stuperman." But in this problem you don't. That's why you have to guess and check the last three regions. When you set up the venn diagram you will have three circles. That gives you a total of 8 unique regions. You know 10 goes on the outside. And 11 goes in the middle where all 3 circles intersect. The "16 liked Harry Potter only" is easy because it's referring to the part of the Harry Potter circle that DOES NOT intersect with the other two circles. Same goes for "4 liked superman only" and "27 liked Fred Only." At this point you have 5 of the 8 regions with numbers. So you have 3 remaining regions to find. They are the three regions circling the middle region. All I did was guess a number in one of the regions (say Harry Potter and Stuperman ONLY) and then that forces specific numbers for the other two regions, since you know all four regions of Harry Potter must add to 47. It took some time. I started with 2, which didn't work. Then 3 and so on until I found the right set of numbers. I'll let you try it out. If you need more help let me know.
