Ven Pongal - Recipe
Ingredients:
Raw rice - 1 cup
Moong dal - 1 cup
Water - 600 ml
Salt- as per your taste
Ghee - 1/4 cup
Few cashew nuts
Pepper corns - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Chopped Ginger - 2 tsp
Pinch of asafoetida (hing) powder
Few curry leaves
Method:
1. Rinse and soak the raw rice and moong dal in water for 30 minutes.
2. To the Pan add the soaked rice & dal, salt & enough water & cook until it’s soft and mushy.
3. In a pan heat 1/4 cup ghee. Roast the cashew nuts, pepper corns, cumin seeds and chopped ginger.
4. Turn off the flame & Mix well .
5. Add the roasted ingredients to the cooked rice & dal. Mix well. Done!
