This is such a good song and sometimes gets overlooked. Sounds like it was written at the height of his illness (c.2015), before his Lyme Disease diagnosis, because it has the same piano refrain from Crutch. I find it incredible that he could create such things of beauty when he was staring death in the face and thinking he was losing his mind. He is a unique artist

Great job! Glad to see you taking a deep dive! Ren talks about how his suffering has been a blessing and a curse in his 1 million YT subscriber thank you speech, which was really inspiring, especially to people feeling stuck in a dark place. Ren had a vlog from his mid-twenties called Me vs. Me, as his symptoms worsened, no matter what he tried. It’s interesting to watch, but heart-wrenching to see his condition and hope deteriorate… He wrote many of his more tortured songs, including this one, during this time. I have been an insomniac most of my life, I can relate to this topic more than any other. I can relate to matters of pain also. I will be 75 years old this year, I am VERY familiar with pain and not sleeping. Thoughts ruminate in my brain more when trying to sleep when there are no other distractions to draw my attention away from thoughts. Ren is playing all those notes, it's all him, his music. In answer to Ren, no, there is no god. Over time and years alive you question more and more and learn more and more, and NO there is no god. It's manufactured by ideas of humans. Mythology. Humans seeking answers to their questions so creating a creator of some sort, where did I come from? Where am I going, when will I be gone? I have always wondered and still wonder if any humans alive today or in the future will ever find out the perpetrator of the story of genesis ie creation? If I do will shake his hand but spit in his face. Sorry to those that are offended by that remark, but it's certain beliefs in a god, any god or any religion that have caused more pain, agony, war and hatred. Humans will always be as they are and always have been. Greed, fear, hunger, hate. Most of which has been taught and learned, from fear, it's all about fear.

At this point the myelin sheath that is a protective membrane that wraps around part of certain nerve cells. Myelin also affects how fast signals travel through those nerve cells. Several diseases and conditions that damage or destroy myelin. Ongoing research is aimed at protecting, repairing or regenerating myelin. His brain WAS on fire. For REN, this was truly his reality. Ren had misdiagnosed Lyme disease for 7 years by conventional doctors who deemed him mentally ill, but when patients are experiencing neurological symptoms, they very often become misdiagnosed. Lyme disease can present itself as many neurological conditions including Acute Transverse Myelitis[3], Ptosis[4], Seizures, and Chronic Fatigue[1] and these symptoms can be often misdiagnosed or deemed psychosomatic. Second is dealing with the symptoms of Lyme neuroborreliosis, these neurological symptoms often leave patients feeling drained and debilitated as they begin losing their quality of life. Over time, patients find themselves unable to do the things they love as they struggle to get ahead of their progressing symptoms.

I really like the way you break down music for me. Honestly, along with your Ren videos, you’ve given me an appreciation of rap music and made me realize I never understood it. I grew up with Eminem.. but never even understood that. I just listened to the beat. I’m glad I found such an appreciation for all of it. The wordplay.. it’s all crazy! I haven’t listened to country music for years because it’s always the same stuff just regurgitated in different ways. Breakups and pickup trucks. I got so sick of it. Pop music, same way. I almost stopped listening to new music. I stick with old classics like Rolling Stones. I’ve always loved the blues.. Billy Holiday, BB King, Muddy Waters.. but I could never understand rap.
