My friend (M) was dating this really sketchy dude, and she was getting super insecure over the whole relationship to the point where she would starve at lunch. One of my friends (R) made a petition saying he was weird, and some of our friends signed it. I made my own in a separate class that I was going to give M, but decided against it. I threw it away, and everything was fine. A few weeks later, R texted the GC abt the guy being weird, and how a bunch of people who signed her petition agreed. M sent me a text about it, and I told her about the one I made. I explained it to her, and how I threw it away, and she started going off about how fucked up it was, and how I betrayed her, and how she didn’t hate me. She told another girl (E) about it, and E started to angrily text me about how shitty that was, and how I was immature, etc. M said she didn’t hate me, but that anyone else WOULD (Manipulating me into feeling bad). A couple days later, M text me and said that she didn’t want to be friends anymore. I finally told her about her other friends who signed R’s petition, and she didn’t get mad at them. She started going off about how I hurt people, and how I was a bad person. She said I tried to take away her only reason left to live. I started to get anxious, because I didn’t know if she would commit or not. (She hasn’t.) (I’ve been on break for a while.)

I had a friend like this. I kept her around for six fucking years. I was so blind, and I wasted so much time with a person who treated me horribly. I realized she was gaslighting and manipulating me. She never listened to me and blamed everything on me. She always acted like the victim. I got away thankfully. Having people like this around you is really damaging. Get away from this person while you still can, it gets worse every fight. If I could tell myself to leave her years ago, I would have, and I probably wouldn’t listen. The more you’re with these people, the more they make you feel like you need them. I couldn’t have other friends. She had ingrained herself onto me. Leave this person before it gets worse, because it will get worse. It may feel good for a week or two. Then they’ll fight with you again. She also used her needing therapy against me, and pretty much convinced her parents I was the bad guy. The only thing she said I did that I actually did, was break her tooth. On accident. Just make sure to get away from these people. They will tell you that they are keeping you safe, but that you won’t let them help you. They will turn so many people against you and make you push away more. I hope that this was just one fight with this person and they felt like attempting to have power, but I doubt it, leave this person before it gets to out of hand.

I’ve been in one of those situations before, but I was the friend. From what was shown, we shouldn’t necessarily assume one side is right or wrong, because people have their own thought on the fight (I’m assuming.) @@nostalgiaisforhotgirls thanks, don’t waist your time reading this if you don’t wanna I’ve never ever had a close friend because I always have the constant fear of losing them, and I’ve never told anyone of me technically being involved in a SA incident 5 years ago when I was about 10, I constantly feel scared to talk about it and on top of this, my parents (mother in particular) are very protective and strict, im not allowed any devices in my bedroom, no tik tok, no Snapchat no insta nothing at all, this has always effected my a Ability to socialise with peers, aswell as this social awkwardness gives be low self esteem and I lost it the other day, I was 6 months clean and now I’m currently 1 day clean but I honestly can’t find myself reason to continue, I keep getting bad grades and detentions aswell as being grounded, Don’t read if u don’t want to.

First of all no. They’re manipulating you, and using your feelings and actions in a way to better themselves despite the outcome on you. I’m not sure the situation but if you did do something bad and they’re saying that, what’s to stop them from hurting you and using this experience to their advantage? Either way friends like that are not worth having and you deserve much better. You seem incredibly sweet and should not be treated the way that person is. True friends wouldn’t do that, even if they are acting like they’re doing it for your benefit, they’re not. If you decide to drop them it’s gonna be hard I’ll tell you that, but in the long run it’s much better to stay with people who care and are right for you rather than people who will bring you down.
