The thing that makes Terry unique is his singing. If this is the only example of his skills you've seen you must watch his show. Even if he didn't do the puppet thing, his ability to sing and mimic the artist is amazing. And singing with out moving lips is just about impossible. Terry is incredibly talented.

Terry Fator used to come and perform at my elementary school for those magazine sales we had to do. I remember him coming to perform one year when I was in fifth grade and he asked us if any of us watched America's Got Talent and he broke the news he was going to be on the show to audition. I watched the whole season he was on with my parents, cheering him on and got so excited when he won.

You know what really pisses me off about KZbin,is the morons that always want to find negatives about every performer.When I watch a ventriloquist,I nearly never look to see if his mouth is moving.The reason being is,I actually like to believe the puppet is real.Its called entertainment.I like to be entertained,not criticise.Its as much about the way the ventriloquist moves the puppets limbs and facial features,as it is about the voice.This guy is very good.

Aside from the skill Terry described in making the sounds without the use of the lips, the second greatest skill is to get the audience to suspend their disbelief, and allow the character to be alive in their minds for the moment. That is SO important.
@lmccluer5 жыл бұрын
Actually more important than the voice. Once the audience starts watching the puppet, the more it takes them into the realm that the voice is being thrown through the puppet. While some ventriloquist can have a good number of different voices, few have the number that Terry has, especially when they can sing in the same voice.

@TotalSinging10 жыл бұрын
xkylex2231 I'm not some pee-on, little internet kid with zero attentions span; I watched the entire clip before commenting. And my comment stands, he has just mastered the art of articulation with only the tongue and throat. It's not something new, just very few people can do it well anymore. Its becoming a lost art form. Jay Johnson is another master of this technique. Vocal coaches and speech therapists are baffled because they don't understand what ventriloquists do and how they do it. Fortunately I do. Physicists at Lawrence Livermore Labs were baffled by a simple magic trick: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZPaiH9rmt90ask Its easy to fool experts if they don't know how it's done.
@Kaboose9310 жыл бұрын
Rock the Stage NYC It's peon. Surf...Terry Fator is one of the very few people that can pronounce his V's, F's, P's, and B's without the use of his lips. Yes, through practice it can be achieved, but it's downright near impossible to achieve such an accurate representation of those sounds and then sing on top of that, Terry Fator can do what almost no man can do. Be perfect in his motions, sing very accurately and professionally, and still pull off a 1 on 1 act. Non just anyone can pull this off. Just because you think you know how it works doesn't mean it's not still something that can take a whole lifetime to perfect...
@TotalSinging10 жыл бұрын
xkylex2231 Nobody said it isn't amazing. I've been manipulating my voice to do impressions, ventriloquism and to sing since I was 10 yrs old so I know it's a lifelong achievement. Obviously you have a hard on for the guy and that's OK but let's be real - nothing he's doing is not understood. It only baffles people who don't understand how it's done. He has simply spent more time perfecting his art - but it's hardly baffling. Other people achieved this long before him and will after him. No, for me it's pee-on because that's what people like are only good for.
@Kaboose9310 жыл бұрын
Hell ya I do. Terry Fator is one of the best ventriloquists in the world. If you don't think so then you're blind. It baffles people because he perfected it. Most ventriloquists still have trouble hitting those hard sounds. You can easily hear it in their voice, it sounds close but if you really pay attention you can still hear it. Even some vocal coaches will have trouble with it. It is baffling to some. Just because you think you're just as good at it doesn't make it one of the harder things to do as a career. Get your head out of your ass and just appreciate that this guy has talent.

Ikr! I went away and paused it for a coffee refill and when I restarted it, yay - another stinking ad! We hate them on TV, so we left that alone by going on Internet and now they're like a disease that keeps following us!!!!!!! WHY!!!!!! I HATE the wasted time more than nearly ANYTHING else! I didn't get on a certain video to watch "Mr. Clean" or hear about a weight loss product!!!!! It's getting ridiculous. Soon we will have to pay a quarter in a public restroom and while in there watch an ad BEFORE using the facilities!!!!!!! You wait! It's coming!!!!!!!

Speaking without moving lips isn't all that difficult. What amazes me is the ability to hold a conversation with no pauses and thinking on the fly and acting out two people. Ventriloqust's minds must be going flat out all the time haha.
