Dang 813 comments and only a handful actually came close to what was going on. This is an easy one this is the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team; 1st Cavalry Division returning to their base Ft Hood, TX from a 9 month Korean rotation. They came into Port Hueneme Navy Base which the Ventura County RR serves. The funny thing is 100's of these comments would make you think this was a secret move when in fact the Army makes no secret of these units moving around. Railroad is the most efficient & safest way to move the majority of military equipment which is why there are 100's if not 1,000 military trains each year in the US alone.

My guess: Going into or out of depot maintenance probably headed to Warren, Michigan where the tank and track vehicle depot is. These were not all tanks. The green vehicles are self-propelled howitzers. These are cool because they can go anywhere on the battlefield in minutes and set up in seconds and delivery very lethal firepower for miles around and be gone almost before the rounds actually hit targets.

The military regularly ships equipment cross country for training to and from maintenance depots, and yes overseas deployments. Because of the logistics involved these things are normally planned months in advance. Source: Myself. I was one of the poor bastards who did this for a living. I live in Upstate NY Not far from 10th Mt division - Ft Drum. Have seen military trains from time to time my entire life. Its the most efficient way our military moves it’s equipment. Unless someone on here knows where and why the equipment is being moved - which no one does except high brass, then this video proves nothing except the military moves it equipment. The military sends all their equipment by rail to the closet point of the base, wheeled vehicles then go on their own power, and track vehicles are hauled via truck. This happens all the time. 19 times last year, so their equipment was seen 38 times on the rails. No need for alarm. I think the public notice it more during these weird times.

When I worked at pier 15 in Seattle, the armed forces in Alaska would go on maneuvers to Louisiana every year. We would unload the vehicles from large barges and transload them to railcars, Hundreds of railcars. The move was time sensitive. We ran 3 shifts daily for a week to get it done. The US military does this on a regular basis everyone calm down. They've been transporting new vehicles to Army bases all over and this usually means brigades are getting some new equipment. This pandemic has put everyone in a state of fear but panicking never helped anyone. The vehicles are moved for various reasons. Sometimes units trade old equipment for new equipment, which means civilian bystanders will see two different sets of armored vehicles. Some units, particularly Marine Corps tanks and amphibious vehicles, will travel to ports for overseas deployments.

@@chrisfisher2495 Thanks for the info., with your info I was able to do a little research. The one on the rail appears to be a M992 that replaced the M548 ..... The M992 @ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M992_Field_Artillery_Ammunition_Support_Vehicle
