It is indeed the best and most simple way to remove the coil pack on the 2005. I have had it done at a shop with an older model Venture and it cost many dollars for them to have to remove engine mounts and pull engine forwards. This took me an hour and a half total. Thanks for the information.

Some kind of rookie tech here...pull fuel relay, run till dies, pull front engine mount bolts, flip up. Ratchet motor forward and easy access to back 3 plugs..dont forget about the pcv value...so know u will have 2 cycle key 3-4 times to fill fuel line up to throttle body.

@69newark To do the 3 rear plugs the easy way on the 3100 and 3400 is to park the car or van on a hill with the front of the car facing towards the bottom of the hill. Then remove the 4 nuts on each torque mount then lift up them up. The engine will twist forward giving easy access to the rear plugs. Then push the motor back with a pry bar where the hook would go to lift the motor out. Then bolt the torque mounts back on. Or use ratchet straps to pull the engine forward while on level surface

Would it be ideal to use anti-seize paste on these spark plugs or is it not necessary? I'm doing a full set of spark plugs to mine soon, with new coil packs and wires.

No anti anything on plugs. Use motor oil if necessary. That plug needs to have good grounding to the head. Follow the torque specs. Most people over tighten, anyway. Be sure to insert correct plug, checking crush washer or taper, for example. Rich guys and rookies overtightened ...

Would have been nice to actually show everything. Like removing the molded hose from the backside of the engine to the intake before the throttle body. I'm trying to determine if I have to take off the coils in order to put it back on. As it doesn't appear that it was put on after the last tune up. as the molded hose doesn't seem to come close to matching up where it is supposed to go. Going to go to the junkyard and see if I can find one on a van and remove it.

To relieve the fuel pressure, disconnect the fuel tank wiring harness in the floor pan near the drivers door and then crank the engine. Or drill a small ~1/8" hole in the fuel filter before removing it. Use Laser Iridium plugs in these vans as you only want to do this job once. These plugs will easily last 150k miles or more.

that's all that is involved with a tune up? replace plugs, replace air filter, clean throttle body, inspect coil's but you need to remove those to access backside sparkplugs, seems easy enough, i thought there was some actual (tuning) involved in tuneups haha.

@69newark Not really if you know what ur doing ;-) If you take off both of the front engine mounting brackets, the engine will then lean forward a little bit(designed to do that) so you can get to the things in the back without it being a pain.

They came out with the Uplander to address all the Venture problems. Very bad design from cooling to transmission.

Just put a thermostat in an Olds Silhouette 2001 for my wife. This was the worst thermostat job I've ever done. Pull the throttle body if you have to do one and don't go by the Haynes manual. This engine has a real dumb ass design.

Um, WHY the music? Totally lame... If the music is meant to imply that Venture are "Simply the best", I would certainly beg to differ when it comes to maintaining these ridiculously laid out machines... the oil filter, and for heaven's sake, the AIR filter, are a totally pain in the bumpass to replace... I love how at 2:18, the video STARTS with the clean air filter already in there, and the mechanic replacing the housing. No video of having to basically disassemble the entire front end of the vehicle JUST to get to the air filter... dumbest design I've ever seen... the mechanic DOES proceed to begin putting things back together, but it'd be more effective to show the whole, painful, drawn-out process....
