We went to Alaska a few years ago. We flew to Seattle, took the train up to Vancouver, which was a beautiful ride up the coast. We then took a cruise out of Vancouver and a 5-day land tour. It really was the trip of a lifetime. I’m dying to see how the new IS system does on the ALCAN, especially since you guys can definitely tell us the difference from your many other trips on the ALCAN.

Congrats you guys...great video! We just got our MORryde IS and Deemaxx disc brakes installed on our brand new 5th wheel in March 2024. Then, on the drive home, we had to try out the new disc brakes on I-75 South. Pretty sure we avoided an accident due to the great handling and braking. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the system is now bolt on as well. We were 4" nose high when we rolled into MORryde so now we're 4" higher in the back...giving us more rear stabilizer clearance! The MORryde system is phenomenal!

@VenturesomeCouple Жыл бұрын
Hey The Ghostly Orb, thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. We decided to keep the stock 16” tires for now. The main reason is that our Dexter axels lost their camber and ruined our tires. We received new tires under warranty so it was cost effective to keep the 16” tires since they were new and no additional cost. Eventually we will switch to 17.5” when it is time to replace these tires. Having the H rated would nice.

Can you tell me what is better the 7k or 8k suspension. What are the benefits or differences. What did you go with and why?
@VenturesomeCouple
@VenturesomeCouple 11 ай бұрын
@@angelaleong7224 we went with the 8k because our trailer is rated at 16,700 pounds and it is on the boarder of either suspension. We decided since we already had 8k disc brakes that it made sense for the larger weight capacity. Eventually we are going to upgrade to 16.5” H rated tires to fully enjoy the benefits of the 8K suspension. 7K is perfectly acceptable for the trailer also; we cannot get a new DOT sticker so we are limited to what the tag says for weight. Of 7K is cheaper and we didn’t already have the 8K brakes we would have put 7K on.
@jeff953
@jeff953 Жыл бұрын

@VenturesomeCouple
@VenturesomeCouple Жыл бұрын
Hey Jeff, thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. The cost varies depending on the options you get. They have an 7K or 8K version, with or without disc brakes, and tandem or tripple axle. Over all it is between $7-10k. We believe it is the best suspension system made for RV’s. Is it worth it? We say yes especially now that you can transfer the system between trailers (As long as the geometry is the same) If we go from a 2021 Alliance Paradigm to a 2024 Alliance Paradigm we know the IS can come with us. The other two things we recommend to consider is; if you plan on keeping your trailer for a long period of time or you do a lot of traveling then we believe it is a valuable addition because your trailer will not be beat up when you tow.

So you don’t have to have it welded? How would it safely stay attached? How often would you need to check the bolts that bolt it to the frame?
@VenturesomeCouple
@VenturesomeCouple Жыл бұрын
Hey adventuresinrvland, thank you for watching the video and supporting us! We really appreciate you two. The factory suspension bolts hold the system in place just like your leaf springs are attached. Since the system is prebuilt the entire trailer weight sits on the rails of the IS and is attached to the leaf spring hangers. Since there is no moving parts like the leaf springs we don’t have to worry about grease. We visually inspect the bolts on every trip but don’t have to do much else.

So this "bolt on" method is an option over a "weld on" method? Is the cost the same after-market? I do know Alliance has this as a factory upgrade...but they are listing this option at about $11k and change. Now, you are getting a few other things (like disc brakes) in addition to the IS with this factory option...but they still make it awfully expensive.
@VenturesomeCouple
@VenturesomeCouple Жыл бұрын
Hey Camustang, the bolt on is very similar price to the weld on option. You are correct that it is expensive in either case. The benefit of doing it at the factory is that the trailer will be weighed and sticker with the additional capacity. After market they cannot re-sticker your RV. We tried 😀

Hi there! I wanted to ask you about the Bolt On Independent suspension. Is it only for Alliance brands or can it be used for any brand 5th wheel. Also, when you say it can be removed and use for your next RV how does that work? What happens to the Rv you remove it from when or if you trade it in? Sorry if I am asking a stupid question. Also, what’s the difference between a 7k and 8k suspension? Since it takes 8 hours less labor time, is the cost less too? We got an estimate for both the 7k and 8k w/ the disc brakes and it was in the 13-14k range. Labor hours was 32 hours. Does this sound right? We can’t go the MORryde but we are going to an installer recommended by them Called Henderson’s lineup in Grants Pass Oregon. They also did not mention the Bolt On system. We are going to look into it. We appreciate this video coming out. Thank you! Apologies for the length, we are fairly new to the RV life and just a year in. We owned an LTV and sold it and now have a new 5th wheel Brinkley Z2900. Thanks in advance!
@VenturesomeCouple
@VenturesomeCouple 11 ай бұрын
Hey Angela, thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. We appreciate the support and do not mind the questions. The bolt on suspension is being manufactured for most brands and it is not generic just to Alliance. The only factor for changing the suspension out is that the new trailer has the same measurements as the trailer that it was originally on. Example is the “wide track” suspension that was on our Heartland would not fit on our Alliance. If we pulled the independent suspension off our Alliance we would have to put the new trailers lead spring suspension on the old trailer and basically swap the suspension. The main difference between a 7k and an 8k is the weight rating on the suspension. There is a lot of difference in tire size, lug nuts, brakes sizes, etc. Honestly none of that matter too much; you have to decide if you want the heavier duty suspension or if your trailer already has 8k. If it does not, to move to 8k ends up requiring larger components (Wheels, tires, brakes) and may not be worth the extra money and weight for a minor gain. The last thing to consider is that no matter what suspension you choose you will not get the weight rating of the trailer changed and legally you can only use the numbers from the factory. The $13-14k with disc brakes is in the right price range for their 3rd party installation. It may be a little cheaper at MOrryde but that is a haul from Oregon. If we missed anything or you have additional questions don’t hesitate to email us Venturesomecouple@gmail.com . KZbin stuck this comment in hold status and we don’t want to miss anything.

Hey Melissa, thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. The major benefit is that the independent suspension provides a far smoother ride and will not fail like a leaf spring suspension (Hopefully). We have traveled over 50K miles in just over two years, for us it is well worth the investment due to the increase in strength by putting on an 8K suspension versus a 7K leaf spring and axel. I will say that it is not a must have if you are not doing long travel or full time travel due to the cost. If you plan on keeping the Paradigm long term and will be doing a lot of travel. The independent suspension will protect your trailer by not beating it up as bad.

Hey Darryl, thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. There really isn’t a weight difference between the two. The main change is that all of the welding is done to IS system instead of the trailers chassis. They have a 7K or 8K version, with or without disc brakes, and tandem or tripple axle. Over all it is between $7-10k as you mentioned. We are MORryde ambassadors and did partner with them on the Independent Suspension upgrade. We have to identify that by putting that it is a “Sponsored video”. We are not allowed to give specifics on our payment; we can say that we went through the same process as everyone else and were on the waiting list for a year prior to getting the upgrade.

Makes you wonder why these IS are not at least an option if not standard. All upside!
@VenturesomeCouple

Hey Ricky, Thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. The Independent Suspension is an option now directly from the Alliance factory for the Paradigm line. We agree with having as a standard option would be great! We have been told it comes down to the additional cost and that some people do not want the added price on their purchase. The leaf springs and drum breaks are significantly cheaper and are adequate to meet the safety requirements of the DOT.

Thank you for watching our video, we did stay in the bay overnight, the first day was getting the first set of measurements, getting settled in the bay, they take the tires off. This new is bolt on saves about half the time of this process, so it saves about 8 hours of labor.

If that’s the case, doesn’t the cost drop due to less labor hours?

Thank you for watching our video, this upgrade is around 6-7K, depending on how you would want it configured, we added in a tray and some other stuff at the time. Prices will vary depending on your needs and what you have, if you need/want to change to disc breaks or add any other accessories. Best bet is to call to get a quote from MORryde and if you tell them we, Venturesome Couple sent you, you’ll get additional savings towards accessories at the time of install.

Anybody know about how much it cost for this upgrade?
@VenturesomeCouple
@VenturesomeCouple 6 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching our upgrade video for the MORryde Bolt-on independent suspension and disc brakes. We recommend calling MORryde or going to their website as pricing will depend on how many axles you have, if you have disc brakes or upgrading your disc brakes or not getting disc brakes, etc and if you’re getting any other upgrades at that time too. There’s a lot of factors for the pricing and MORryde is the best place for all of that information. If you mention, Venturesome Couple sent you, you will save a couple hundred dollars towards accessories when you get your IS upgrade. And I’m sure depending on when you get your upgrade will determine the price as well, such as inflation or price changes, if your RV can get the Bolt-on versus the welded independent suspension.

@@VenturesomeCouple After reading your reply we called and talked to Morryde and scheduled a upgrade. I forgot to mention we watched your video. Hope when we get there maybe we get a little discount. 2018 we took our 2017 325 RL Vanleigh/Vilano to Alaska. We went and volunteered at a family CG in Soldotna. It was Klondike RV Park and Cottages. What an awesome Adventure. When we went to Denali we hit the grand Slam riding the bus out and back. Chena Hot Springs was as far North as we went too. Would love to return after getting out new IS.

We recommend giving MoRryde a call to let them know we sent you their way so you can get money credit towards other accessories set up before you get there so it’s in their system. Also while you have your appointment, they have tours, which we recommend going on. We are looking forward to returning to Alaska ❤️ Sounds like you guys had an amazing time. Safe travels.

Kodiakeddie, thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. They did use a torque wrench all the way through the process. They also have a second technician go over everything with a torque wrench to double check the installers work.

So….how much weight does the IS add to the trailer?
@VenturesomeCouple
@VenturesomeCouple Жыл бұрын
Hey thebearden2, Thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. It adds about 800lbs to the trailer. The nice thing is that it is under slung weight and does not negatively impact the weight of the trailer above the frame. That being said, the DOT sticker does not change so the GVWR stays the same.

I have been keeping an eye on the bolt-on version. Actually, I had an appointment for our 5er, but between the price increase, current economic climate, and two other issues with our Solitude, my wife and I had to cancel. I have been to MORryde many times and know several folks there and am a Profesional Engineer. So it gave me great pain to watch the techs hammering down the fasteners with the impact then using a torque wrench improperly. Basically, every fastener is overtorqued... In years past, that would have never flown in their shop, but I suppose they have the same labor challenges all of us do in this day. Anyway, any issues now that you probably have ~2 years of travel on the install?

@robv4053 I was thinking the same thing on using a torque wrench after hammering the fasteners down with that impact. Yeah, they are torqued. But what value exactly? And to clarify why you torque a bolt/nut: It's a way of controlling the stretch of a bolt so that it will stay fastened but will not break while keeping all of the design specs of that bolt. The way they did it, you shouldn't be surprised if you have a bolt break on you while under stress where a bolt torqued to spec will not break under the same stress. And when that bolt is a critical bolt on your suspension... Plus that somebody who does that kind of a job doesn't deserve the title "Technician".

Thank you for watching our video & supporting our channel, When we purchased our 5th wheel it was already built, as in we didn’t order it & it was already on a dealership lot, & it was a year prior model. Now our RV manufacture has partnered with MORryde to add independent suspension as a paid option to add it before they build the RV. We think it’s awesome that MORryde sells independent suspension aftermarket for those who would like the option of adding independent suspension to a unit that did not come with it. This is no different than buying a vehicle sitting on a lot and adding features, aftermarket, or ordering a vehicle and adding the options as paid upgrades. Which we did with our dually, we ordered our dually and added every option that we wanted to fit our lifestyle.
