@earthling19847 жыл бұрын
They don't really work well for bug control. Sure, they do 'eat' bugs, but, they won't take care of any bug problems. Maybe if you had like 1 million of them around your house they would :P

Weird. I live in Ireland where we get very little sun, and when it's sunny it's not even that strong. However my traps have been doing well, surviving multiple frosts, they're going dormant and they had developed a red colouration, a sign of good light levels.

LyricsYT I live in Ireland too, but I'm not sure if I can get an insect a week, usually there are bluebottles everywhere, but now they've just disappeared.

So I got a question. When you have two of those plants with multiple heads how can you tell them apart? In other words know which heads are coming from one plant and the rest coming from the other? Unless you have to take them out and repot them to tell.

although that would probably be too humid for the plant. these plants don't like to be incaged in glass or plastic, they need open air, just wet roots.
@fonkvenco227810 жыл бұрын
Amazing leaves, with the jaws literally hanging in the air. I was given one recently and it came in a cermamic container with just a little hole at the bottom and a saucer type of thing (just 2cm deep) that goes under the container. I read that the proper way to water them is to just fill the saucer with a quantity of water that will be absorbed in max. 24hrs and then give it a little dry time afterwards. You water them a lot more - so do you think my way is wrong or is it okay too?
@theomegaris9910 жыл бұрын
I have heard that they want a lot of humidity because there native to the jungles and so since humidity builds up there, you want to try to keep their dirt moist and you want to keep their living area moist/humid

If you have to keep it in a bowl of water like that Id guess it would be a good idea to use the same kind of pot you use for African Violets. They submerge the bottom of the container pot into a second pot that holds water (like a double boiler).

I had mine for a few months now. I immediately regret dividing them when I got them. Only divid them if you are experienced. The smaller ones I find are much harder to care for :( The one I didn’t divide is doing much better as the bigger one can actually eat and feed the rest.

just got mine a week ago (early november) and ive been reading stuff about the dormant phase and that you shouldnt be watering them too much when theyre in the dormant phase...question is i dont know when the dormant phase is..some sources say its now but others say it's not..can someone help me? what should i be doing with them right now? i have them under light for about 12 hours a day and i havent been watering them too much
@GiGaSzS11 жыл бұрын
I used an old aquarium, which I put peat moss in. I covered the aquarium with glass (for water circulation and for flies, which could not escape from the aquarium). I watered so there was always cca. 1-3 cm water in it. This was really good for the plants. I also had other species for example Drosera, which bloomed a couple times in my aquarium! But unfortunately I left the aquarium outside in the winter and it broke because the water froze.

aslong as they get roughly 4 hours of sunlight its fine. They naturally live in a bog which means it rains a lot so the sunlight needed isnt as much as you would think.
