Her biggest mistake was her answer. Venus obviously didn’t give a good thought before answering which was actually the easiest question to answer. Her question requires a life lesson from a mistake and she answered it like she was too perfect to make a mistake. Her shallowness and her excitement being in the United States for the first time got the best of her. Had she answered the question intelligently, there was no doubt she’ll win the title.

partly I agree with you, as she didnt expound, she assumed, the judges got her sentiment..that when you ask help or guidance from your family you wont Make much mistakes... I wish she made that clear.

They try to dethrone her, because Stella was already informed that Philippines will be in the Top 5. All they need to do is to send a girl who can give a Decent answer! But Stella’s team knew that Venus is struggling with fluency. So they had to replace her. It may be with the 2nd runner up! Because the first runner up was under age. Who was the 2nd runner up???? Next year, the send Shamcey Supsup from the University of the Philippines, because it was the same deal. Well, now you know.

@@eduardochavacano Oh please. Had Venus stayed dethroned and her replacement Helen Nicolette Henson was unplaced in Vegas, you would've seen a lot of Filipinas turned their backs on Bb. Pilipinas because of their shady dealings and join rival organizations like Miss Earth Philippines. That's why Stella Marquez-Araneta and BPCI we're exposed big time by the PH Department of Foreign Affairs when they unleashed the Jus Sanguinis principle in the PH nationality law. Also, the Miss Universe organization would've revoked BPCI's MU membership at the time due to their shady dealings. C'Mon Bruh.

Great dress, Fluid Walk, great Make up... But she was Overwhelmed by the crowd and she was tooooo humble! She kept acting like she was not Worthy of being in the semi finals. She called Stephen Baldwin, sir, a few times, like she was a waitress taking his order at a diner.

@@eduardochavacano I do not think there is anything wrong with calling someone sir or mam. She had a great swimsuit presentation in both the prelims and finals. However, that was the only thing for me that was good about her. I cannot imagine her personal interview if she bombed her top 5 question that bad. I do not think her EG performance was strong at all. So, sometimes I wonder how certain girls make the top 15 and others don't.

Food Culture They wanted to crown a Miss Philippines, but they dont want to make it look like a cooking show. So Stella Araneta had to produce a beautiful woman who can be Eloquent or fluent enough not to flop in the Top 5. Since it was very obvious that the winner struggle with impromptu speeches or sounding so fluent, they rush to Dethrone her. They failed. So they just bank on a great gown and styling. The problem with the Maan and Sir is that it represented her attitude. What 99% of Filipino pageant do not understand is that pageants traditionally is not about being Humble or as Filipinos love to say “Down To Earth”. A Miss Universe is a queen and not a cleaning lady. Her words, “Yes sir, thank you sir” were reflects how she felt at the moment. She was too humble and felt Unworthy. A queen should be someone who thinks it was her Right to be onstage and that her voice is what the world craves to hear. But this lady was OVERWHELMED, she was Too Happy like a poor little girl who had ice cream and sphagetti on her 6th bday. She only expressed happiness and gratitude. Back then, I still think she deserve to win in spite of her answer. There was nothing Stupid about her answer. She was Authentic! Problem was Too Authentic, she lost composure. But that was not enough reason to be 4th runner up. Still the question is so generic. It is asked in all job interviews. If She told the world that she was Intially DETHRONED because of her Race! She will get 100% of the vote and she will be on the most famous winner of all time.
