When you do the HJC J.B you want to get both hits. If you need any help I highly recommend watching omnix (One of the best hyde players) or just ask a hyde main or we can get some matches.

Go to 0:03 on how to do just that. The numberpad represents the control stick's direction when performing a move. So, 2B would be down medium, being the top button on your controller pad.

Hyde dmg is so mediocre compare to other characters :/. I could easly make more 70+ dmg with regular combos with other characters. While Hyde got tight windows for combos doing below average dmg

he's not meant to deal a ton of damage. all of his assists are insane and his chip damage is as well. he also is very fast and has good setups with his 214B. He's very versatile and has a great kit. I think you should learn more about the game

Hyde is a versatility character not a damage dealer. He has great mixups, his J.B is one of the best in the game because of how much range it has, His orbiter is a really good projectile and his Assist are impeccable. I suggest you get more knowledge about the character. Also his damage does feel underwhelming but his mixups and chip damage make up for it.
