I didn't realize this recording is older than I. I can't imagine why I didn't like it when I heard it the first time twenty years ago. It has now become one of my favorite operas as well as my favorite recording. Such power.

It seems that Elena Suliotis was only 22 at this time. May be too early for her & thats why she lost her voice in her 30s?

Era molto giovane quando ha debuttato (credo in Luisa Miller a Firenze) La voce era magnifica, ma lei o il suo agente non se ne sono presi sufficentemente cura. La Decca le fece un contratto per dieci incisioni, ma lo annullò prima (credo dopo macbeth). Peccato, forse la voce era splendida, ma lei non era molto intelligente artisticamente. Questo Nabucco è storico ed è il più bello che si trova inciso in disco.
