My favorite of the Quattro Pezzi Sacri. The "fac ut animae donetur paradisi gloria" near the end makes me tear up every time. It actually feels like the gates of heaven opening up which lifts the dark mood that was present the whole time before.

Verdi was an outstanding composer,not only of operas but also religious music, for example.This masterpiece touches us very deeply, mainly for the Catholic people like me, that cannot be indifferent to this amazing Stabat Mater. Its musical strength and sublime harmony is incredible. The choir, the orchestra and the direction are magnificent. Viva Verdi and his music!!,

A very energetic and expressive interpretation. It may surprise that a so young conductress gets this wonderful and vivid, full of nuances and differents emotions way of playing from both the chorus and the orchestra, but in my opinion this issue illustrates the great mastery and talent of miss Georgieva.

Guiseppi Verdi had a very bad deal in his life but came up trumps towards the end of his life, he only enjoyed his success in his latter years. He only survived a terrorist attack when he was a child thanks to his mother hiding him away. Unfortunately he wasn't able to have proper music lessons or experience, he just picked things up mainly self taught. He later studied Beethoven string Quartets for inspiration. Tragedy struck him in his early attempts at opera. His wife and kids were killed in this unstable country that they now call Italy. The turning point was when he saw the words va pensiero the famous chorus from Nabucco. From then on wrote Bel canto opera's putting his own voice to a well established form developed by Rossini Bellinni and Donezetti. He eventually met a lady with a dog who he lived with for the rest of his life. He became very active as a Politician in Busetto his home town. Political and religious matters were manifested his operas such as La Forza del Destino and Don Carlos and Simon Bocconegra. His love for Shakespeare he wrote 4 Macbeth Othello Falstaff and King Lear the latter he didn't finish. I have read his Biography but forgetting details.

Wow! I initially thought it was a bit fast, and it was faster than I’m used to hearing it, but the ensemble held it together marvelously. Especially in the last minute or so, that’s where I’ve always heard the string section mess up with some going too slow while others are rushing, but everyone was in sync. Beautiful performance.
