Verify: Do you have to pay a red light camera ticket?

I noticed that some of the lights/cameras seem to be changing faster than normal than the other lights without cameras. Ex: they seem to change from yellow to red a lot faster based on the distance you are away from going through the intersection.

Most redlight cameras are run by third party for profit companies. They have no authority to affect your driving record or even send it to collections as you never agreed to pay it.

You don’t have to pay these tickets in TN. I’ve got several, they will send them three times and stop. You DO NOT HAVE TO PAY RED LIGHT AUTOMATED TICKETS in Tennessee. Thank you Andy Holt!

These fund-raisers have become very common in the name of safety. I have yet to see statistics that prove these are actually dangerous areas. Do they include in their data the weather and such related conditions at the time of each accident/incidence? So many cams are being placed in areas that are obviously not a safety concern. Often they are placed at slow down speed limit locations where there are definitely little chance of frequent accidents. It would be hard for the average person to challenge such situations in court. Also, why should someone pay for a citation when he or she were not the ones driving the vehicle? Finally, it is depressing to know that it becomes 'obvious' that the cams actually do what they claim as safety, because one would think that when there are so many, many citations sent out it would clearly indicate that the cameras are NOT effective safety deterrents. I hope some law group or others would collect enough data to either prove or disapprove the justification of traffic cameras. I certainly can see school zones being justified cam areas perhaps during certain hours. Cities and small towns are getting quite used to the dollars gained and I imagine we will have a difficult time getting them to give up such revenue.

ery easy to beat. Get an affidavit saying you were not driving. Court cannot prove who was driving, case dismissed. If the court ask who was driving? You say, I don't know. you are NEVER required to help the court/police prove their case, that's their job. (a lot of people have access to my car, not sure who was driving). In Virginia/ Maryland/Arizona they have cameras that take a picture of the driver as well as the tag, so look at the video footage they have .

Just yesterday, here in Colorado Springs, CO. There is this left turn light that stayed red for over 2 rotation of lights, everyone started driving away then it was my turn, I had to turn left because I live there. Lol. While the first 2 cars turned in red the camera didn't take pictures but when I turned it did flash, it was unfair, because every now and then this light would stay red forever if I get a ticket I will fight it. Also that same light when is working it turns red faster, stays green for literally a couple of seconds.

Why not go straight then u-turn and turn right? I agree that the ticket is bs either way but I’m curious why you just went for the turn on red instead of doing what I said above. Or taking a right turn then a U-turn.

In Florida I didn't pay mine and got my license suspended... out tickets are almost $200

I have absolutely no idea how you managed to get your license suspended. Unless the citation was issued by a lawful police officer. The citations these people are referring to are issued by 3rd party companies that do not have legal authority to take legal action. Legal action can be taken but as they stated, any competent lawyer is going to get you out of the ticket. The fact is, it is impossible to verify who the driver was at the time the incident occurred. They do not know who to issue the citation to. A relative or a friend could have been the individual driving the vehicle. Simply showing the car going through a red light does not mean that whoever the owner is has to pay the citation. Again, I don't know your exact situation but it wasn't a red light ticket like they are referring to in this video. I have been sent at least 4-5 in my lifetime in the state of Florida and I have always thrown them away. Never had my license suspended.

@@zacharywilder140 the situation was I was issued a red light camera ticket in the mail and disregarded it. A few months later I tried to renew my vehicle registration and the dmv told me I couldn't because my license was suspended and I had to go to the county clerk to settle that. They told me my license had been suspended due to the unpaid redlight ticket so I then had to pay twice the fine of the ticket and still had to go pay to get my vehicle registered.
