Visited with my late wife in June 2008 and then there was a clog maker by the coach park but on subsequent coach trip visits with my late friend Roger it had closed. His sons used a photo I had taken of him by the railings with the "port" and buildings in the background for his funeral service photo. Both he and I liked the town very much and eat in a restaurant by the central square as you come into the town often and we had luck with the weather mostly even eating outside in autumn time. There is a canal off the main street which I'm surprised isn't shown. It was also the last place I ever saw people smoking in a pub though the next time we went the place no longer existed. Pleasant surprise at the far end with the windmill. My late mother swore by elderberry juice for fighting colds and infections and you could by it in quantity here in Sluis for a reasonable price and she lived to 97 (she also liked a tot of whisky in her tea too!) Must give this pleasant town another visit as there is a very good choice of shops. Even bought a pair of night driving specs at one place

I visited Sluis on a school trip in 1981, a lovely place.

Only 90 km from North French Lille but unfortunately not so well known there, though typical Dutch to French eyes.

It's almost on the Belgian border, just a few miles north from Bruges.
