A Visit to Sandwell Field Sports with Si Pittaway.

Hi everyone.
Here is an episode where I travel down, 2 times to visit a friend and expert spring rifle tuner, Tony Wall and his team at Sandwell Field Sports (SFS) in West Bromwich.

This episode is dedicated to Tony and his team at SFS in recognition for many many years of first class services to the shooting, hunting, fishing and field sports community.
This clip does not do Tony and his team the justice that they so rightly deserve, but it is hoped it will help to give you the viewer an insight into the good work that they do.
I personally cannot recommend SFS enough.

I did a Chinese b-3 I polish the chamber and made mi own spring guide so tight on spring guide and it works so good. I like your channel your the best say hi to the master tony love him

Thanks for the heads up about Sandwell Field Sports Si, i went there today and bought a Daystate Huntsman Classic in .22 and a Hawke Panorama AO IR 3-9x50 half mil dot, an amazing gun and you were right about the optics of the Hawke Panorama, as clear as a bell! after setting up & sighting it in i put my first round straight through the pellet hole i was aiming at! as did all the following shots. Bunnies beware!!! Thanks Si and keep up the good work making the great videos that we all enjoy

Great video Si. In fact I liked so much I went down to Sandwell Field Sports today and got myself a HW97 and a Walther CP99. Can not recommend this place enough.

The AA Fields were originally tuned to 11.4. I then wanted to use RWS Super Field. They chronoed in at 12.3 so Tony re tuned the rifle again for the RWS Super Fields for me and its now doing a healthy 11.6. Different pellets even at the same weight as proven can cause a rifle to run low or high so keep an eye on your rifles lads. Si.

I had a HW97k tuned by TONY many years ago it was like a new rifle . they are very helpfull . I have since moved back to SOUTH AFRICA and wish there was a TONY here.

Somewhere that cares about the customer, I had a SFS 77K and many many other springers (tuned) and the 77k was by far the nicest to shoot as far as firing cycle is concerned. Good job on the video, it was interesting to see the place my 77 was tuned. FMG

Great choice of rifle mate. I would recommend a Hawke Panorama EV 4 - 12 x 40 mm AO IR scope with half mildot reticule. Very very good optic to use on a air rifle mate. Si.

I really liked the variety of products in this shop, very nice. It's great to see you get yourself some goodies, a little kid in the candy storeLOL. You right handed folks are so lucky, just wish I had so much to choose from. I am a lefty, it's a bit harder to find the right guns... always a wait period etc... I love the R-10 MkII, thicker barrel, no shroud, just a suppressor, and at 12 foot lbs. Here everyone is into, too fast airguns. That's why UK has way better shooters. Great video!!

I have a 1969 BSA airsporter that I need restored. My dad left it in his shed for a few years and so it needs a total strip down and re-bluing due to rust. Also as kids the spring broke and we put one in that wasn't suitable breaking part of the charging lever. My dad fixed it but that would need restoring too with a new spring etc. It also needs new iron sights (although I could live without them). The stock I can restore myself. Is this a job Tony could do? It's a lot of work and I know it will be expensive, perhaps as much as a new rifle, but it has sentimental value as I cut my teeth shooting it with my brother hunting as a child.

tony is brill went to the shop wednesday a brought a r-10 mk2 fitted a hawke sidewinder 4-16 x 50 sr6 pro very pleased cost me just under a grand rifle scope swift silencer and 2 tins of pellets everyone at the shop offer a superb service these guys are the best would reccomend to everyone

Awesome! Until recently I had no idea what a pcp or springer even was or is. I've always shot rifles, pistols and shotguns of which I own many and very regularly use them. I thought 'pellet' rifles were for kids to shoot the occasional black bird or some such. Had no idea that such high end gear was available and how accomplished you guys are with them. I would NOT want to match my shooting skills to yours! Thanks for the vids!

I honestly don't get what all the fuss is about I can shoot just was well with my 97 and its factory standard why pay for something that doesn't improve actual accuracy ? Because unless the guy is re cutting the rifling I don't see how the barrel is more accurate than my standard weihrauch barrel 🤔 I may be wrong I get that tuning basically gives a smoother shot cycle but the gun is accurate from the get go unless you have a bad barrel/muzzle crown

Hello Si, Having returned to shooting after a long time away, I have really learned a lot from your posts and appreciate the quality and informative content of your videos. I am so tempted to trek north to Sandwell for a tune to my HW 77 and a service for my HW100, but it is a long way from the S West. In this clip you say that you regard Tony as being amongst the top three experts ( especially regarding Weirauch) in the UK. Is there someone else further south that you'd recommend?

I think the Banshee is based on a HW95 mate but if you asked Tony he could probably do one off a HW80. The stock is a walnut affair but im not sure which one. Your better phoning Tony direct buddy. Si.

How do you put the air charge into the PCP guns, can they be filled using a 12v air compressor like the ones used for blowing up tyres or does it need some special peice of equipment to do it?

whats the difference between there first and second stage tune internally? and in the firing cycle. ive had two sfs stage ones, a 77k which was very sweet and a gamo which I think he even mentions in this vid. nice but passed that onto a mate. looking at a few tuners at the mo. plink

if you had your hw97 for instance tuned to 11.6 with rws superdomes, wouldn't that make it over legal power with aa field for example. or would tony make it so all pellets stay under power? just asking as you had yours tuned with rws superdomes to 11.61 and i found that aa, h&n's etc... were more powerful.

Any comments on nitro-piston, vortex gas ram, pre-charged pneumatic etc rifles - do these need tuning? Anyway - treating myself to a Hatsan AT44-10 Tactical PCP today in ,22 - given your English power limits and an average weight pellet the latter might just make it out of the barrel - makes one wonder. An easy solution might be to charge with nitrous oxide rather than compressed air?
