It's Not Over, Yet by Vern Gosdin
Lyrics:
On the bed, lies your pillow
It's been there since you've been gone
And in the closet, your favourite shoes, you used to wear
And the perfume that I bought you
It still lingers everywhere
Somethin' tells me, it's not over yet
On the night-stand, is your picture
The one I've held, since you've been gone
The same picture you gave to me when we first met
It don't hold me in return
But it says, please don't forget
And it tells me, it's not over yet
It's not over 'til the memories of you
Have all died
'Til the tears from my eyes
Have finally dried
It's not over 'til that phone rings
And I don't reach to talk to you
And hear you tell me, it's not over yet
It's not over 'til that phone rings
And I don't reach to talk to you
And hear you tell me, it's not over yet
And hear you tell me, it's not over yet
--

What a song. There is simply nothing being written like this anymore, and it kills me. I’m not a child of Vern’s era, as I’m 33 years old. I was born the year this was released. But I yearn for more country music like this. I sing and play guitar, and would love to carry the torch, but where do you find songs like these now?! I wasn’t blessed with the gift of songwriting, sadly.

Bravo, Canada! Keep up the good work. I was in your great country years ago and found the Canadian people to be quite friendly. It was in the "dead of winter", and I was a surveyor's rodman braving the Canadian cold winds in the muskeg bogs of Quebec. Growing up in Texas, I hardly knew what snow and REAL cold really were. But I found out that winter and managed to survive.
