Takemitsu's music must be a feast for people with synaesthesia.

What a sense of orchestration in that association of guitar, oboe d'amore and orchestra. Each work from Takemitsu presents us new instrumental combinations, while he keeps his basic style. I do note that Takemitsu used the guitar rather often. Remembrance of the gagaku orchestra?

What a wonderful 'concertino" ! Indeed, Takemitsu was very fond of guitar. He composed several scores for it. It is probably in his mind a substitute of traditiona Japanese instruments, for which nobody could find players in Europe or America. This music is facinating.

Exquisite color balance and smart arrangement. The guitar has its own distinct place and role.
