Anyone know how he managed to increase his range from the 70s to 2012? He opened a new octave for himself lol

constant passion and lots of practice maybe? He has always been a fine vocalist but during 80's his range increased drastically

@@bjkim0728 I'm not sure that could do it. Practice can get you a few semitones of increased range but he went from hitting B at the top of his range in the 70s to belting Eb/F in the 80s like you said. On "stranger on the Shore of Love" for example, being able to riff at that range too...truly exceptional

he started working with Seth Riggs(speech level singing) in the late 60’s after vocal surgery. Even comparing ‘68 to ‘71 or 72you can hear he has much better technique. By the early 80’s he was ridiculous, and by ‘90 he was an alien! It’s years and years of work. He’s unsterstood and mastered the second passagio better than any pop singer ever.

@@MarlonMusic11 wow, great insight. You're very right...when I hear him straining on the 60s tracks it's just so different from 80s/90s where any note/riff/timbre is achievable ... Maybe I should get training from Seth Riggs haha
