Very well said. Hard topic to talk about!. But you nailed it. Doesn't matter how we feel. Only matters is that we follow God's Word. We need to renew our mind. Romans 12:2. From the the world view to Gods view, to find true peace and joy.

Speak the word of God where He speaks and be silent where the Bible is silent. Like it or not. God bless you. A holy man can not be judged . Satan loves when we chase our tails. Don't twist it like a lawyer. I pray for y'all often. .

Well, I think that he started off really well but then began to backpedal when he got to Paul's prohibition against women teaching or having authority over men. Because of Eve's sin, women have a desire to displace men in society and to compete with them. God made reference to this when he said to Eve, "Your desire shall be toward your husband." As far as I know "teach" means "teach"; it doesn't mean anything else; therefore, women should not be teaching in church. Teaching in public or private school, fine; but in church no. It is not that complicated. And shame on him for using the word chauvinist in reference to a man - here he was clearly pandering to women.

The only thing I learned from this talk pertaining to " I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. 15 But women will be saved through childbearing-if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety." is that Church leaders unscrupulously hang on with all their might to this constant threat they feel to their ego, from women. They spew rhetoric disguised as soothing compassion in the form of an IDEAL that they (males) are the only ones competent to lead and teach a congregation, their "brethren" and that, though their women may find it distasteful, they (men) are "naturally ordained" by God to be the ONLY Preachers in a Church and therefore, the only gender in a competent position. All the rest of the blabber about this particular subject in this context is an attempt to placate and feign women into thinking they have some 'other" kind of role of importance and merit. It reminds me of how men expound upon the importance of women in the kitchen and how that role is SO VITAL to them and the family and the world, while she is subjugated to him as "head of the household". At SOME point religious males have GOT to face the fact that Paul was a person of his times, and a Jew, and that his concept of women's roles were formed not just because of his culture and times but he might even have been misogynistic. I don't think that's a great LEAP in thinking considering the kind of person he WAS at one time and to apply his personal feelings to current times is conceptually complicit with the archaic and personal belief system of Paul AND the Jewish religious culture and attitude of that time. It's not just insulting and degrading to women, it's an example of men's constant struggle with their ego and their deep-rooted need to feel superior to women. I love how Paul blames Eve for the sin of eating from the Tree of Knowledge, but doesn't mention that Adam had a choice as well and chose to take the apple from Eve and thus was also condemned for HIS choice, making him equally guilty. And then that woman will be "saved from childbearing "IF they continue in faith, love, and holiness with propriety". IF is key here. IF she continues in faith, love, and HOLINESS with PROPRIETY. How about the propriety of men? Hmmm....... shall we talk about that? This is one heck of a statement, but, again, it shows the pedestal on which Paul expects women to strive to stand on, in his eyes, with no reference to the failings of men to hold that same pedestal of perfection. He FAILS to acknowledge that Jesus died because NONE of us can HOLD that pedestal of perfection. We might strive to get there, but we can never HOLD it in perpetuity. But he IS certain to demand women should attain it if they want to be saved from the pain of childbearing. He is LIKE a college-age student who demands the world conform to their personal ideal ideology of right and wrong and perfection. He learned NOTHING from Jesus. His learning is merely warped to fit his own personal biases and beliefs that are contained and molded from his personal limited belief system about the role and place of women contained within the Jewish society and cultural period. It's archaic, limited, and infantile. Do our current Preachers HAVE to follow that example? No. They CHOOSE to. It keeps them in a position of power and authority. How very fragile is that ego. If men cannot LEARN from the teachings of women, they will always view women as an appendage of themselves, subject to their will and authority, with nothing of much value to provide to them except through their subjugation, conformity, and ability to please them. Grow UP.

To be clear- you're plainly saying you agree with some parts of God's word and disagree with other parts? You're saying certain scripture is fallible because you don't like it? Many of us have scripture, commands, laws of God we disagree with. The question is whether you're willing to be obedient to God even when you disagree with Him. And if you're claiming certain parts of the bible are NOT the inerrant word of God, we have a whole other problem

@@jared0429 It's the rantings of the personal opinion of women by Paul. It's Pauls OPINION. He states VERY clearly "I" do not permit women...... " not "God does not permit women......" and it is coming from a man who exemplifies the era of the times from a male perspective of those times. It is not the word or the will of God, it is his personal opinion of what HE can tolerate and not tolerate, NOT God. It is NOT God's "order" or "command", but Pauls. Therefore, I reject it. It's archaic cultural bias of the era and times and it clearly shows a historical picture of gender roles at the time, but its NOT God's word.
