We have loved Gary’s teaching since my wife discovered Cornerstone Chapel during the early days of Covid….so much as to visit the church last summer. However, I am shocked and disappointed to hear Gary’s explanation of God’s election: that God knew ahead of time who would accept Him, so He chose those to be His elect. This is wrong and runs contrary to the doctrine of election. Many verses to support God’s election: John 15:16, Romans 9, Ephesians 2:8, Deuteronomy 7:6 and many more. 🇨🇦

God electing those who would be saved implies he has also similarly elected those who are destined for eternal damnation which is entirely unbiblical because then that means Christ did not die for ALL. It also discredits the foundational doctrine of free will. Rather, God is aware and because he knows all things past, present, and future and operates outside of the restrictions of time and space, knows all who will accept his gift of salvation. That includes those who have, those who are on their way, and those who will in the future. Our future is his present and his past. It's our responsibility to accept Christ's invitation, and it's His responsibility to safeguard our gift of salvation and to sanctify us. Predestination removes all sense of responsibility and accountability. In the mindset of a "predestined" believer, what is the point of repentance and prayer and good works if they are guaranteed a spot in heaven?

There is no such thing as the doctrine of election. Thats a calvinistic heterodox belief
