I kind of love that the child Archon is kind of treated as the country's child, little things like the civilians wanting "the birthday girl" to feel loved on her special day is such a difference from the distance that the reverence causes between other countries and their Archons, its a nice change. Ya know, I'm starting to think that Sumeru is all an illusion. We see life be given to it through the dance that nilou does as a celebration. We know the Dendro archon is capable of making dreams or rather illusions "real." The title of the chapter is "The dream yet to be dreamed." and Dainsleif talks about a truth yet to be revealed in the roadmap trailer. Kusanali in the animated preview talks about how "this world is in a loop" and how she is "just the moon, the real sun is already gone." There's a voice that asks "aren't you ashamed of pursuing such trivial and meaningless activities in this land?" And we also hear an abyss herald say " are you really so ignorant, or are you in complete denial?" If it's meaningless, then why? If we are supposedly ignorant or in denial, then that suggests we dont want to believe what could be the truth. Maybe because it's all fake, and there is no sumeru. We see these giant ruin machines that we know are weapons from Khaenri'ah, maybe the great archon war really did destroy the entire nation and its previous God with it. So Kusanali in her older siblings place tries to create a utopia for her people at the cost of hiding the truth. My final evidence is that towards the end of the trailer, we see all of this destruction while Nilou dances and Sumeru city starts to disappear into gold dust. There's still so many questions though, what IS that tree? We've seen it on fire burning in Collei's dream What role does the abyss and fatui play here? Why is Nilou's dance being cancelled by the grand sages? Do they want to finally show their citizens the truth? And finally, how and why is the Traveler's color back to white towards the end of the trailer? We have not seen that since the beginning of the game when we see the Sustainer of Havenly principles.

Hoyoverse goes against fan expectations. Before 3.0, people wasn't really hyped by Sumeru, so Hoyo drop 2 banger trailers (this one and the Fatui one) to say : "don't underestimate Sumeru". Khaenri'ah was destroyed because they dabbled too much into the arts of Alchemy, something that's generally frowned upon everywhere else, especially by the Archons it seems. Celestia probably thought they were growing too powerful and dangerous and becoming a threat to them, and forced the Archons to destroy Khaenri'ah. That's why all the Archons were in Khaenri'ah 500 years ago. After the fall of the nation, Celestia was probably the one who cursed them to become immortal monsters...aka Hilichurls and the Abyss Order.

So since Sumeru is based off of India/The Middle East, there was a big split regarding Islam a couple hundred years ago where they were split over who would be Muhammad’s heir, some believed it should be a relative, while others believe it should’ve been a long friend of Muhammad (correct me if I am wrong on any of this). I definitely agree. Sumeru's story will be about how the nation is divided and blind to the truth. With Kusanali in the center of it all she definitely feels hopeless and weak. The Akademiya is the faction that mainly controls Sumeru, so the "push for folly" is probably representing the sages against Kusanali pushing for the empty hopes for Rukkhadevata's return. The fatui and abyss will definitely take advantage of this situation, Dottore was seen burning a tree at the end of the winter night lazzo - probably one of Kusanali's Irmunsul trees that supplies her wisdom. At the end of this trailer we see Aether entering this area so we'll perhaps encounter one of Dottore's segments there... Regardless, the villains for Chapter 4 of the Archon quests will probably be the Sages of the Akademiya with the Fatui and Abyss behind the scenes as always

Watching this again almost a year later after the 4.0 live stream just feels weird, it doesn’t feel like long since sumeru released but in fact it was. Really excited for Fontaine

i can't believe we are already getting fontaine in a month or so. my mind is still stuck in the 3.2 era. idk if its just me but i feel like the 3.x versions went by faster than the 2.x ones. maybe its because 3.0-3.2 shorther versions? or maybe because sumeru was way more fun? it just feels like yesterday when i first stepped into sumeru and unlocked dendro traveller. Back then when everyone was making theories about rukkhadevata's "world forget me" and learning the dendro reactions. Back then when everyone was asking mihoyo for amber and collei interactions. Back then when people doomposted cyno and alhaitham prior to their release. When people made baizhu=dendro archon theories. When we all cried during 3.2 archon quest. When people made theories that voice in 3.3 quest is istaroth. When people were complaining about the aranara quests being too long. Damn, I'm really gonna miss sumeru.
