George said (as he was ready to join Mercedes) that he wanted to see how Hamilton “went about his business”. I think that George decided that he will copy Lewis’ fist bumping other drivers, crew, etc., the informal handshake and Lewis’ propensity for putting his hand on a driver’s shoulder in order to congratulate them etc. George has no flair, no charisma and is very, very stiff in his interactions with people. He trying to mimic Hamilton. It is a fascinating situation to watch. lol. I think that Verstappen is going to “make mincemeat” (a British phrase) out of George. George will deserve it. The stewards summoned both drivers to hear both parts of the story. It wasn't 4 laps before they spotted the mirror. The issue was that the mirror wasn't on the driving line and a virtual safety car could not create a good gap for a marshal to enter the track and remove it. Then Bottas got a blue flag and he went off the racing line to let Charles through... and he wrecked that mirror. I think it should have been an immediate safety-car with people diverted through the pit lane. But that's just me. Not sure if the rules allowed for that.

Max was therefore wondering why he still had to go to see the FIA according this incident. Getting there George apparently was telling a whole different story to the FIA, which Max felt as screwing over.
