@eman kcin Kimi himself said that the tyres were already gone at the end, so even if they might have been more fresh, they were also the softest compound that lose the edge quickest. And overall Mclaren has been the 4th best team by quite a margin this season as others said already. As for "better engine" thats debatable, because I somewhat doubt that Ferrari's customers have exactly the same kind of latest/newest version available as the main team and even if they do, Ferrari has clearly lost the edge it had with their power units, very likely because FIA blocked the one thing that gave them that edge.

He was still slower than Bottas, Leclerc and Vettel on pure pace this race. And has been the slowest driver out of the top 3 teams since he joined Redbull. He needs to become just a little bit faster and then he will get there. Or else he will need luck to get on to the podium. But he is really good at overtaking and his racecraft is exellent so let's hope he can get there.

@@collegeboy5030 it was that sprint at the end after the safety car (with no drs) that pushed it over the top. Especially after that massive mistake of ham pitting and losing 2 spots and cost him the podium. Then seeing a potential red bull/Toro podium at the restart that was very close to ending under a safety car. I was screaming at the TV jumping up and down like I was 5. And to see Gasly come in 2nd by beating ham to the line that close was perfect. And I'm a Ham/merc fan!

In so many ways, this race was pivotal to how things developed in the following years. The smooth operator meme. Vettel falling off the Ferrari cliff. Lewis feigning innocence and ruining someone’s race and ultimately Albon’s career at RB. The resurgence of Gasly. And Max bossing the race. Honda and Red Bull didn’t forget this race..and they all worked towards achieving what they aimed for in 2021.

@@bertyp2278 Hasn't even been in contention for a podium this season because he was to slow. On pure pace he was slower than Vettel, Bottas and Leclerc. Needs to become a bit faster or else he will need luck to get there. In the first 18 laps he lost 18 seconds to Verstappen. But he's agressive and a really good at overtaking so at least he will get the chance to improve next season unlike Gasly.
