That was incredible to watch. An amazing achievement. I watched it in bed and realised my feet were mimicking his feet. I'm obsessed with watching free diving as I'm scared of water and can just about swim if I had to. But free diving to these great depths astounds me. And don't get me started on cave diving OMG it's terrifying.

It eliminates the eye damage that can be caused by the extreme pressure at that depth and also the need to equalize a mask. Luckily, they have that line as a guide to keep on course.

Oh, I was reminded in the comments that there are also special contact lenses for deep free diving that act like miniature goggles and prevent the problem of pressure on the air in normal goggles that causes painful and damaging compression upon the eyes at depth.

Not necessary as it's done on one breath. Decompression sickness is caused by breathing air from the tank at higher pressures and too much dissolved nitrogen.
