I'd like to see another update of how this setup is doing! :)

Dude, do what you want to do. Your making this channel to show people different things about plants. You try different things most people wouldn't try and you document it. People need to chill... it's plants... have a great day

I am sure that your ceramic planter will do good now. At night you may want to open the bag a little to provide airflow and prevent any molding of dead organic material you may have missed when cleaning your moss. Night is best for this since humidity tends to naturally decrease. Roridula, another of my favorite plants, yes get them sowed asap. The seeds do not hold up well like drosera seeds do.

Thank you Mr Stryker! Yes, I have the bag sitting with the top open and the humidity sits between 70-90% I will be giving them a rainwater spray down this afternoon and will inspect for any old leaves or moss that isn’t making good contact with the wall, but honestly I am surprised that none of the moss has dried up yet and it’s all getting good water supply

Show us how this has held up, lol. 😂

hello Joe, try to make vertical and with small pinguicula and little droseras types, buy another vertical ceramic. 😉

Hi Seb, I just replied to your other message but as the article explain pinguicula didn’t enjoy growing through the moss as much as the adelae and utricularia did🤔

I’m curious but are pill bugs an issue for these plants? As I thought pill bugs were good for soil but do they then eat the roots of the moss, or something else bad? Curious as trying to learn so much with carnivorous plants & after years still learning they are so outside of my knowledge of plants, when been growing since my mum could take me out with her to the garden lol - & really don’t want to make the wrong decision that’s good for other plants but might not be them.

Quick note, unglazed ceramics are no different than terracotta. Keep in mind just trying to help out. Your plants, your channel, your content otherwise so no judgement and not telling you what to do.

Thanks for the info! I think I edited out the part when I spoke about ceramics and terracotta, I’m not expert, but all I could find is that ceramics are blasted at a higher temperature? Do you know much about that?
@DLCoates1 Жыл бұрын
@@TheFlytrapGarden ceramics are indeed fired at a higher temp, however for most CP’s they’re still not recommended since you’ll have to change the potting mix every 2-3 years. Not as bad as terracotta though. Glazed ceramics are perfect fine however. Edit: you did mention it was ceramic not terracotta however you’re correct on that detail being left out.

Thanks for the info! My plan is to spray the tower with rain water once a month incase if any mineral leaching, so it should be alright😁but so far, they seem happy I do remember now, the inside of the pot is shiny, as if it has been painted with some sort of a coating. I don’t know what it is exactly but I just remembered that now
@DLCoates1 Жыл бұрын
@@TheFlytrapGarden that would be glaze, means the inside is the safe side lol Edit: Believe me I would love something like this long term myself, however it’s not feasible with these plants. If you used pinguicula it would be a completely different story. They would thrive on something like this. They’re cliff crawlers after all. I did see you mention that pings dont like moss, they do however love nutrient rich soil especially calcium rich. However certain pings such as laueana, which I myself own, as well as grandiflora, and a few others, are tolerant of say for example sphagnum moss. I also recommend utricularia bisquamata, which the guide didn’t recommend however it also thrives in a variety of conditions.

I’m sure they will be fine 👍🏼 Boaz (fierce flora) has extensive knowledge of these plants and success with his own planter, and if they die, then we have learnt something and had a lot of fun doing it
