This is honestly fascinating. The cut to the final shot is what everyone points to as the unintentionally funny tonal break, but there's something so weird and artificial about the aesthetics of the entire scene. I feel like I'm watching a Doritos commercial or something that just happens to have a tense and tragic plot. I'm going to see this movie just to study it.

@@Threshroge actually, they do. Those dads are the ones who run into a burning building to rescue their kids. The ones who do anything to make sure the kids survive any situation. Plus if you pay attention to the movie you find out him and Wick served in spec ops together. It's only said once. Do you have to pay attention. At that level, training kicks in. And it's that kind of man who jumps on a grenade. So yeah they do exist, they are all around you. If it were me I would have cut the rope myself. I'm that kind of dad.

I've never done rock climbing. Would you even have 3 people on the one rope to begin with?
@foryourlugsonly
@foryourlugsonly Жыл бұрын
@@simonbaigrie2485 it really depends. Personally it would be two to one rope. So Annie and her brother and then dad and someone else. But I've been on pitches where 3 of us are on the one rope. That said, all 3 aren't ascending at the same time. You need someone on the anchor who is basically as says. Anchored onto the rock with bomb proof placements and that person will belay the other two. The issue is that as the anchorman pulls up the slack, man 2 and man 3 have to be climbing at the same rate so that man 3s rope between him and man 2 doesn't tighten too much and pull on man 2 and vice versa. Generally speaking you tend to have just one pitch being climbed at a time by one climber. So as follows. 1st pitch is the first man who is roped to man 2 on the ground and is the belay. When man 1 gets to the anchor. He will set it up and start to belay man 2 from above. Man 2 reaches the anchor and anchors in. Then throws the rope to man 3 who will climb past them and set up an anchor on pitch 2 and so on.
@foryourlugsonly
@foryourlugsonly Жыл бұрын
@@simonbaigrie2485 I'd also like to point out that in this situation. When the two climbers attached to 1 rope somehow manage to fall, as the rope catches dad who is the anchor. It pulls him off the bolts. This is absolutely completely and utterly impossible. There would be more chance of it splitting him in two like hot cheese wire through a chocolate sponge cake than actually snapping his rope. He is anchored onto bolts which are screwed into the rock face and set with a poxy resin.

Don't worry, this has never happened. People have sacrificed themselves for others or selfishly saved their lives, but not like this. The fact it, the bounce from releasing the first to surely would have undone the cam. 2) She could have set another cam without pulling on it, thus giving her an extra 8 or 10 inches of reach. 3) If they were going up an overhang, they would have had MUCH more protection set. If that guy was typically climbing like this, he never would have survived this long.
