Vertical Spreads and EARLY Assignment

Hi, on the debit spread after you get assigned if the price of the underlying moves back Out of the Money, you will no longer be able to exercise your long option, correct? In that sense, it's not a guaranteed gain, right? Or am i missing something. thanks
