Thanks so much for making these videos. The best part is that you are new to reloading shotgun shells and you cover the things that many of us may be thinking about. You also don't edit out scenes in which things don't go perfectly. That is fantastic because we all run into problems and seeing them happen to other people will only be a help to all of us that start shotgun shell reloading as well. These are great videos. Don't feel like you have to say everything perfectly and not make any errors, there are plenty of bigmouths that love to judge other people but they're watching your videos, we aren't watching theirs. Looking forward to the rest of your videos. Thanks again and God Bless brother. 👉🏼

Cheerios can be the key to a better crimp if your crimp is to deep...after you seat the wad, add a couple of Cheerios to the bottom of the wad before dropping the shot (experiment on how many to add to get a good crimp). They will add volume to the shot column without adding weight.

Fantastic information all around. I have been eyeballing the LEE Load All for a bit and your two videos answered all of the questions I needed two finally "pull the trigger" (HA!) and start my own journey into the shotshell world. God Speed Brother!

At nearly 30 years loading pistol and rifle I find myself at the same point as you were last year. Thanks for the great videos!

If I had to venture an educated guess I would say the ones that got stuck were longer from being stretched out with age. Over time a hull can stretch so when you crimp it then it's slightly longer then a brand new hull.

Your situation with the shot not quite filling out the wad (due to 7/8 ounce charge in a wad made for 1 to 1 1/8 shot charges) is better corrected by putting a 20 ga., .125" thick over powder card in the bottom of the shot cup before dropping the shot. This will fill the space without increasing the shot weight (which will increase pressure). Adding shot to fill means you're shooting a 1 ounce or heavier shot column with a powder load intended for 7/8 ounce of shot (and BTW, my brand new Lyman book doesn't show any loads for less than 1 ounce of shot, at least for the Remington hulls I have). This could potentially be unsafe.

Hello Sharps 1874, Another great video. I'm retired as well & taken up reloading. I've had good luck reloading Winchester AA, or Super X hulls. I've also reloaded Rio hulls, but they seem to swell in diameter, enough to not want to eject. I bought a battery powered clay launcher & enjoy shooting clays (learning another new skill). This might be something you & your friends might enjoy.

So the 7/8 ounce load didn't have enough shot, so you made it a 1 ounce load by adding more shot. That could be dangerous and cause pressure spikes depending on what your powder charge is. Just my ¢2

If you are having issues with the crimp not closing all the way you can use a overshot wad. It will take that space up. That is if your loader is throwing the correct weight of shot

Try an over shot card just before you crimp.

You can add washer at 1st station. The inner hole should be like in station. Outer slighty less then rim of shell. It will allow you to work little bit easier. Also you can add some wood parts under plastic so it will made it 'stronger' and will take of 'bent' of it. I mean: made harder and stiffer. I'm using it with some tweaks for black powder reloading for CAS ;) Anyway, very nice video :D

@4:55 Honest question since I'm learning what I can before making any investment. Wouldn't it have been better to use an overshot card rather than adding more payload before crimping? I'd like to see more on shot reloading. 👍

I really appreciate you going over these steps. I’m going to take the journey into shot shell reloading. I may try to do it the old way by hand as I am afraid to get things jumbled up. Any tips on where I can find some solid and basic load data for 12ga hulls? Thanks again.

I just got my load all not long ago. What I am finding is that some unsavory people are buying all of them off of the Lee website and selling them for a profit on ebay. I paid 100 bucks for mine but I wanted it bad enough that 50 extra dollar wasnt going to kill me.. But the Lyman shotshell reloading handbook 5th edition, is no where to be found and some crapezoid on Amazon is wanting between 130 and 200 bucks for a 26 dollar book.. I am not buying it.. My Lee load all is going to sit on a shelf till the book becomes available again..

Have you figured out the cost effectiveness of reloading 25 shells of 8 shot verses buying a box of 8 shot at walmart??
