This dua is in the last aayat,Aayat no.286 of Surah Baqarah. We recite it all the time,the credit of which goes to my husband,Fazal,who introduced us all in the family to so many duas from the Qur'an Paak Alhamdulillah.

Assalamu alaikum!!! Actually, from what I had learnt this ayah talks about the fard acts of worship in Islam. Allah doesn't expect us to do more than what we can. That is all the obligatory acts of worship are easy and is not a burden on mankind. It doesn't talk about the pain and suffering we can handle per se. Though many have said this can also be an added explanation to the ayah. But the basic explanation is the fard acts or worship is not made in a way to be a burden on any soul.

Salam The people of Musa alaisalam If they did a sin didn't have to kill their fathers and brothers . Please recheck the verse u quoted

I also thought how is our beloved sheikh saying this?? They had to kill each other's of family members because they had committed a very huge sin of worshipping statue of cow after they were saved from firaun. Se this was a huge trial and punishment for them. That was the context. For that sin they had to do that time the killing. Not everytime they sin.

Read Last 2 Ayah of Surah Al Baqarah at night time from Maghreb till Fajar any time, these ayaat will be sufficient for the person. Allah will not over burden anyone more than they can handle.
