The Pretender is an odd villain, to be honest. With the whole concept of children being treated like cattle for slaughter in the world of Little Nightmares, you'd think that her being a child too would also give her a massive disadvantage. Instead, she is treated like a queen who is no different from the monsters of Little Nightmares. I guess it's because she has powers which is why she gets to be classified as a monster too.

Children are preyed upon by monsters in the series. That's the key point to take away from this: they're preyed upon by _monsters._ Not "adults". There is no reason to believe there aren't any monster children and the Pretender is likely one of those, if not a midget who likes to dress like a little girl. Doesn't really matter. Her powers are partially what make her a monster in the first place, or at least the fact that she uses them to kill people.

I think it's meant to follow through on the idea of sixes transformation in the first game. The pretender could have been an innocent child at some point, that gave into her darker side a lot sooner from isolation and being spoilt, much like six did when she became cannibalistic from her need to survive. I think that's something to keep in mind, that black mist that six absorbed from both the lady and the guests can be seen not only as power, but the darker half that has taken over, like the shadowy six we saw throughout her eating scenes. So children can become easily as dangerous as the adults if they give into evil, or something like that.

Maybe that's why she disappears and you get her flashlight after everything - She did all she could to help and finally moved on? I like that more than thinking another child died by a leech or something else in the Maw. :P What I have noticed, and is a bit concerning, is that we have 2 whole games centered around characters who ultimately die to forward Six's own story. I really hope Mono doesn't end up dead in LN2 as just another stepping stone beneath Six's feet.

I interpreted that dark trail as a trail of water, as sometimes spirits will leave physical manifestations of themselves, and she died by drowning. If the spirit vanished upon completion of their task, then the sodden trail of sea water would also disappear. It's just an idea though, the game is pretty open to interpretation, and that's what makes it so intriguing. :D Maybe leeches aren't even /just/ leeches in this universe - Like how the gnomes aren't /just/ gnomes. Maybe children who die transform into the leeches and other crawling creatures of this world, and only a moment of self awareness/will power/purpose can snap them back into a semblance of humanity. When that trigger passes, they return to a leech, mindlessly living once more. I doubt this, since the Gnomes show little to no ability to regain human form after being transformed, but they do retain their self awareness it seems.... Actually, since people seem to think the boy who feeds Six through the bars wasn't the Runaway Boy, maybe other gnomes or leeches can reassume human form to assist others? I dunno! :P

I think that random girl we were using was actually six's older sister, it is theorize that she came to the mansion to rescue six. At first things were going well until she unexpectedly got caught with the pretender and thus she died along with her by fading into dust while the pretender drowns. Six in grief went down to get her sister's coat and wear it with her on a journey to the 'MAW'. i also theorize that the pretender is not allowed to touch anyone because last time she killed her parents by touching them accidentally, this is why they were given her dolls so that she won't be alone by just pretending the dolls as her real friends, unfortunately she couldn't bare the lonliness and lost her sanity as we saw her tearing off the doll out of anger then crying on the bench, questioning why does she have this curse or....why does she exist at all.

This might be a bit odd, but I have a theory that this might be why Six has trouble trusting others. (SPOILERS AHEAD) In the official Little Nightmares 2 website, they say: "Six must learn to trust someone else for a chance of survival". This would imply that Six can't/couldn't bring herself to trust others. And no, the girl in the yellow raincoat is NOT Six (as many have clarified in the comments). Six has short hair, whilst the girl in the raincoat is revealed to have long hair in a braid, and there's a theory that I personally believe in, as there is a BIG chance that it's correct, that the girl who we helped and helped us is in fact Six, and this is the origin story of her raincoat. And obviously, she seems to trust the girl in the raincoat as she comes to her rescue, endangering her own life in the process, which isn't something that someone would usually do in such circumstances. So already we're establishing that the short haired girl is Six, she takes the raincoat after she climbs down, feels like she can't trust others, and yet she trusts the girl in the yellow raincoat. I think that Six has trouble trusting others because of what happened to the girl in the raincoat. She trusted the girl and tried so hard to rescue her, only to see her die in front of her after being SO CLOSE to finally escaping, and possibly together. She must have been heartbroken to see her only friend end up with such a faith. I think that after that, she 'learned' that she cannot trust others not only because that can easily get her killed in such a cruel world, but also because not many survive. It's a dog-eat-dog world, and after seeing her friend die, she must have come to the realization that everyone she trusts has a high chance at dying, and to not feel such pain and grief ever again, she decides that she won't let herself trust others for her own sake, wearing her fallen friend's raincoat as a remembrance oh her and this promise. I'm probably reading too much into this, and this is not the type of thing that can be confirmed, but I still think that it is very much possible, considering that she helped someone in very little nightmares, and not the other caged children in Little Nightmares and ate the nome.

Now that LN2 is out we got another way that Six has found her coat. I can´t think of a good theory on how she would have lost and found it again. In LN2 Six doesn´t hesitate to pick up that raincoat as if it already belongs to her, but it could also be possible that she only picks it up because its raining.

six probably didn't take the raincoat yet bcs once the little girl fell down with the pretender, we see the raincoat flowing away, then the game frame changing to six coming down from the rocks. so the raincoat probably left ahead from the place first. then getting washed up to the point six didn't saw it through the water when she escaped with a raft. so the only time she gets the raincoat is during LN 2 in pale city

I’m not sure if anyone commented this already So, the girl you play as isn’t Six. Her name is most likely Five, and my nickname for her is runaway girl. At the end, she dies by falling off the bridge with The Pretender. You can also see she has brown hair in a ponytail and Six does not. Next part is why you find the raincoat in the middle of the Pale City (after escaping The Teacher.) This has minor spoilers My theory is Six reclaimed the raincoat after Five/Runaway girl dies and sets off. In Little Nightmares 2 (LN2), you play as a boy named Mono. You also see that Six is in the Hunter’s house. She most likely set off, and arrived at the forest. She got caught by the hunter and got saved by Mono. Also during her ride, she dropped the raincoat and that’s why you find the raincoat in the middle of the Pale City.

Few things that you should know: 1. This isn’t Six, she’s simply known as “Raincoat Girl” (six has short black hair, not brown hair) 2. The one you help escape and eventually helps u at the end is Six 3. We can’t be 100% sure that she’s dead, all we seen is her coat float up. But I’d presume hitting the water from that height and velocity would pretty much imply she is. 4: This may or may *not* be the same raincoat that Six gets, but may just be coincidence. Here’s my opening plot for little nightmares 3 Boo, An 8 year old boy wearing a ghost costume (just like the ghost) wakes up surrounded by gnomes. The gnomes then runaway when all of a sudden someone opened a door. We introduce, The main antagonist of little nightmares 3, The magician. A tall cloaked nightmarish humanoid wearing a hood cloak And has claw like nails, and is armed with a staff that he uses to cast deadly spells on his victims. Boo then ran away from the magician dodging Blasts from his staff. Boo jumps through a hole in the floor to hide from the magician while he’s examining the floors for him, boo keeps going until he Climbs out from another hole with the magician nowhere. As he started the walking through the hall, the magician blasted a door down with his staff and soon corners boo. But then boo found a way out of his lair thanks to the gnome that held a rope that leads to the outside of the nightmare world. Boo lingers onto the rope and he and the gnome get pulled down outside leaving the magician foiled. Outside, him and the gnomes pull out a door to Use as a raft to float across to the pale city (just like six and mono floated on a raft to get to the pale city in little nightmares 2). They then jump off to The shore leaving the door floating away. Boo then enters the apartment through a pipe and into the hallway where him and six and mono encounter The exterminator (who I will introduce soon). And without the exterminator seeing him, boo sneaks past and enters the stairs part. Following little nightmares 1, six was at the top of the maw outside and watching the water move. Some gnomes approached six Only for six to apologize for eating one of them (who is actually the runaway kid) and as she did, they then see the door (same that Was floated on by boo) and they soon jump on and started floating away from the maw. As they float away from the maw, Six sees A paper bag mask floating on the water and picked it up, it was Mono’s. Six decided to turn the door to float back to the pale city to Go back for mono and break the cycle of him and the thin man Meanwhile in the signal tower. The camera moves to the door in the hallway of the signal tower where mono became the thin man after six betrayed him and dropped him into the chasm to escape the signal tower on her own. The door opened seeing the thin man still sitting in the chair waiting for six to come and get his revenge on her. Meanwhile six and the gnomes parked the door on the shore where they head back to the signal tower for mono. But suddenly, six found a quicker way to get to the signal tower, she finds a tv and tells the gnomes to stay put and she goes through. Six finds herself in the hallway and walks to the door and opened it, and then she sees the thin man sitting in the chair (now the thin man from chapter 4 was destroyed by mono who took his mask off to use his transmission powers to defeat The thin man). The thin man then stands up from the chair and started glaring at six and gets pushed out of the tv where the gnomes were next to. The gnomes supported six and she got up, but When she was supported by the gnomes, they turned and sees the thin man emerging from the TV, the gnomes started running away and so did six, and the thin man started walking after her. Six hides in one of the alleys trying to come up with a solution to bring mono back From his thin man form. The gnomes and her an idea as they pointed to the thin man’s hat. If they can destroy the hat, then the thin man will transform back into mono. The thin man started coming into the alley searching for six but six carefully without being caught finds a pole to hide and climb on. The gnomes Distract the thin man and before he could attack, six jumps onto the thin man and takes his hat jumping off using it as a parachute. Then the thin man started Rushing after six to grab his hat back but six kept running and running. Six then finds the gnomes holding an axe, and dropped the hat. Before the thin man grabs his hat, six grabbed the axe from the gnomes and then swung it, and chops the hat in half causing the thin man to grunt in pain and huge flash of light flashes from the sky causing the thin man to lay in the ground and he starts transforming back into mono and just laid unconscious. The light then turns off, six runs to mono to wake him up. Mono opened one of his eyes a bit and sees six, and angrily backs away from her. Mono then angrily asks six why she betrayed him. And six told him that she saw his face and believed that it was a time loop between him and the thin man. And six broke it by destroying the hat. She gives mono his Paper bag mask as an apology gift and mono kindly smiled and hugged six to forgive her
