You could use plastic cup rings or you could save and use the ring that stays on the neck of the mayonnaise jar after it is opened. I save some of those rings in various sizes. One use is to help hang my hummingbird feeders. I will now use some for this adorable project.

Such a cute souvenir bag. I know how this project is about reusing and recycling items, but, because the paper cup would probably deteriorate over time, I would likely use either a plastic cup rim (cut off very carefully !!!) or a thin wood ring if those are available. This pattern can also be adapted to any size you want or need to make. Sooo pretty and quite delicate with the colors used here on these bags. TYSM for sharing this video and your techniques with us. Love it !!! 😻👍🥰

For bridesmaids gifts, I think a drapery cord (ends melted together into rings) to take the place of the paper rings. Yarn same color as dresses. This will make beautiful gift purses.❤

It would work just fine! But I would also suggest that you use plastic rings so as to be able to wash it without the worry of degrading the cardboard in the handle.
