She's wasn't reading the lyrics, she was crouching so that she could control the effects pedal. The studio version of this song has a lot of vocal effects and they try to replicate it as best as they can live.

@@josechaher8473that’s really weird and unusual, it would be ok if the venue was empty and this was just a rehearsal session, she could have programmed her board and sing like singers normally do.

I honestly dont really know much about effects boards and how they may be programmed, but I've seen Julian Casablancas do this type of crouching thing as well so that he could turn the knobs manually. It may seem weird but it gives them control over the performance I guess.
