A single lift, just 2 floors, but it has a dispatch and a 12-key keypad. This just couldn't be more overengineered!
@xavier61306 жыл бұрын
DiodeGoneWild Indeed. Actually, I thought about a lift *without* any buttons inside (except alarm, door open and door close) for buildings with 2 floors that need lifts for some reason like handicapped access. They would be *so* easy & quick to use.

Wow, that is a VERY rare sort of lift. I already heard about those, very amazing stuff! I love when a companies tries out innovative systems and not just be bog standard and installing standard dull designs only.

There were a few of these in the old Millennium exhibition in the Millennium Dome, sadly removed when it was converted to the O2.
@benolifts9 жыл бұрын
I can't remember the dome that well. I was too little. All I remember is the escalators going up the body zone. I can also remember the beach zone, the new planet zone and the ball shooting zone. I don't remember any lifts. It is such a waste of money that it was only for a year.
@leethomas849 жыл бұрын
I was 16 at the time, the ball shooting was awesome (until I got kicked out for being too old). There were a glass Schindler's dotted about the place where various toilets and cafes were, I think they were MRL's. The rare Mobile lifts were in a few of the exhibitions and only served 2 or 3 floors. I saw a pair of them with one control panel between them, which directed you to which lift to use. Everything seemed so super modern back then, even using the JLE to get there. There was a bit about Crossrail and the Chelsea-Hackney lines too in there. Would be good to see it all now to see how well it aged.
@RobR3868 жыл бұрын
+Lee Thomas I remember the dome well, the ball shooting zone was called the time keepers zone, great fun it was and I was 15 at the time. I did see these lifts dotted about, but I don't recall riding them, some of the exhibitions were so busy I didn't get a chance to see them, but I did go through the body zone, that was awesome.

That motor sounds like some toy motor or something, not a lift motor
@niederrheinaufzug93026 жыл бұрын
As far as I know the keypad system was not for sending the best lift, because most of the Schindler Mobiles were installed for very short distances and very low traffic. It was more, to have one part to install in every lift. The lift didn't need a individual cabin panel with the number of floors it had. So that system was very modular alls settings only had be programmed in the lifts logic.

@Mattyeah1019 жыл бұрын
I assume these were superseded by MRLs for such installations - Boots usually use generic companies to modernise, and many would probably want to rip it out and completly replace it. That could be why it still survives.
@benolifts9 жыл бұрын
They won't be able to modernize this. It is too unusual and like nothing else. The generic companies wouldn't have parts compatible with it. Which means they will want to replace it. :-(
@Mattyeah1019 жыл бұрын
That's basically what I was thinking. Hopefully as long as it continues to work well, they won't replace it - but logical thinking often doesn't apply with such companies, they only care about making quick money.

@Bombiedude.2 жыл бұрын
I do like destination dispatch but I can never find them around my area which I think is a real shame because the idea of just selecting a floor and having a computer do the rest of the work is such a cool futuristic idea because on most elevators/lifts its the normal system where you press the button to call it and then select the floor on the inside and it does get boring to do it like that after a while

If people don't understand a destination dispatch pad, they should just write "enter your floor" or something. How did they have so much trouble with that they had to write "press 1/0 to go up/down"??

Wait this elevator doesn't use a pulley and counterweight? Not even a hydraulic? Does that mean this elevator could go much higher than other elevators?
@benolifts8 жыл бұрын
+Bradman175 This lift uses the counter weightless system, it is similar to the Kone Power Disc. This system has a very complex cabling system with large movements of the cables to make the lift move. This design of lift can only be used for a couple of floors and can't take much weight.
@Bradman1758 жыл бұрын
***** Well I know schindler is inventing an elevator that is literally a train that can go in 4 directions (up down left right) where cables are not needed. I understand how the elevator can't take as much weight but if it can go to a certain amount of floors, it must mean that it is somehow permanently attached to the shaft.
@SenorJagWire7 жыл бұрын
Beno that's quite ironic considering the panel can support 9 floors or more lol
