Some clarification: The arc starts on the 20th, their plan was going back to the 19th. However, he wondered if he simply fell down the stairs and was knocked out for 12 hours, hence why he asked if it was the 21st.

You might have missed it but the date of the start of this arc is the 20th of august, so one day before the start of Hanekawas Tsubasa Tiger arc BUT the part where Araragi talks with Ougi is actually in the future not quite clear when though with our current knowledge, since Araragi is still in school it should be sometime between the end of Tsubasa Tiger in august and march of 2007 considering that japanese school ends in march. We know this because Araragi says he is reminded of the incident that happened in the past with Hachikuji. I think its starting to make sense why i mentioned it would be useful to have a paper with the dates at hand. We get an interesting conversation with Ougi at the start even though we actually never got introduced to her at all. Certainly a mysterious girl that "randomely" talks about street lights and danger. Both Ougis and Ononokis parts do relate to Hachikuji though with the talk about traffic lights relating to her death and Ononokis questioning about what her reason for living is and if she is happy right now. The reason why Ononoki stopped with her catch phrase was because Shinobu beat it out of her at the end of Nise. Shinobu did say she will make sure that she will never be able to do another posed look. I did say that Kabukimonogatari can be translated as "eccentric story" but did you expect the series to be so eccentric that we time travel just because Araragi forgot his homework, this series really just does whatever it wants, doesnt it? I think Araragi was wondering if they time traveled at all and since he thought he was out for 12 hours and it would be the 21st then if they didnt time travel.

"After all, all they see though their eyes are red signals - not green." ... it's just an anecdote in an anime, but when comparing it to some media (like, the photo-albums by Christoph Bangert), I can't help but pondering it further ... and being kind of glad I have the luxury of indulging in drunken ramblings even if the rug can indeed be pulled out from under my feet quite suddenly without me being able to do anything.

Funniest character in the show is BACK. When Yotsugi says she's a tsukumogami of a human/corpse, what she means is that she's a tsukumogami that was created *from* a human/corpse that was "used" for 100 years, not that she *belongs* to a human/corpse. If that sounds vague and oddly ominous is because it is, and she will proceed to never elaborate further ever again. This arc starts on August 20th, one day before school restarts on August 21st (and as we see on Tsubasa Tiger, Araragi is absent). Araragi was trying to travel back to August 19th, but ends up traveling to May 13th -11y. "Kabuki" can be translated as deviant, eccentric or twisted. "Kabukimono" was the name given to certain samurai in the Sengoku period who adopted flamboyant dresses and mannerisms, often bordering on the feminine; which obviously lead to them being singled out as "strange" and "deviant". The behavior of those samurai would be the eventual inspiration for kabuki theater. However, the story of the samurai themselves may be less important than the general theme of "deviation", deviating from the correct timeline, deviating from what's considered normal, being singled out and isolated from your surroundings...
