Great video. Thank you! Hurt my trail shoulder at the beginning of the year and have had to make a short backswing. What I fond out was I was hitting the ball further, which confused me at first. What I believe happened was because I felt my backswing was “too short” I must have been trying to make up for it by accelerating through impact. Thanks for the drills!

Thank you very well explained, I'm a senior golfer 57 years old and idk 5 years serious golf, this concept is perfect for myself , you know really if your looking to score I'm not to worried about distance, more fairways and pure contact, this could be a very good way for senior golfers to score better,, and I'm saying this because I've always been a long swinger , hugh back swing over the line ,, but we're is the ball idk 30 % if I'm lucky in the fairway, alot can go wrong on the way down with a big backswing,, ty this video really hit home I've been wanting to go with a more controlled swing for a long time ,this make total sense to me now ,, bla bla bla , ty again great video , practice practice practice!! I'll get there lol

Thanks Kevin, great to hear. Yes I believe with a short swing you can have more control and still hit the ball far enough to play well. Cheers

Excellent comments Kevin! What you’re saying makes perfect sense. Coordinate an easy swing making better contact and keeping the ball in play. I’m 77now and belatedly came to understand a better way to score is getting on in regulation plus 1, and working hard on the shot game! Increíble how many pars can be made with this formula! Cheers

So helpful and clearly explained. You did an excellent job of sequencing and then connecting the pieces. Ground force pressure and getting the weight forward before the top of the backswing is what my coach is working on. Appreciate your simple instruction.

Love the bonus tip showing butt of club held against belly button helping the whole upper body to stay connected and move as one in the swing. Many thanks as always Troy.

I remember seeing Tony Finau during Big Break when younger had a longer swing. He has maximized the short swing and accuracy. Also great point you made. Every great shot I have ever hit I am shifting left before the back swing finishes Many thanks

Excellent lesson Troy! I have relaxed my grip pressure, forearms and wrists. This way I am able to feel the clubhead a lot more and I am able to use gravity for full utilization of the golf club. I definitely try to maintain lag throughout the downswing. Ground Force pressure will be my next goal!

Hi Troy. Thank you for a fabulous video. Can you recommend on how to maintain the tilt on the Downswing. I have a massive problem in hyper extension, thrusting my pelvis towards the ball. Once again Troy Thank You
@Hittingitsolid2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Stuart, you can try a couple of things to start with. First, try rolling in slowly your trail foot toward the target. Also, try getting more separation in your hips as your start the transition. Both of these force you to keep your pelvis back. Let me know how that goes. Cheers

Ive struggled with my attempts to shorten my swing with 5 iron or longer…my practice swings feel just right but the full swings are long , arms collapse right elbow flies out and swing goes beyond parallel and across the line. My muscle memory from years back takes over no matter how hard I try. At times I practice a brief hesitation at top (to prevent the longer swing) like Hideki M. but that’s not easily replicable. Incredibly frustrating and very inconsistent swings. Any comments or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks and keep up the great content.
@Hittingitsolid2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, probably have to see you swing to see what the root cause is. Do you take the club too far back on the inside in the takeaway? Is your head in much the same position at set up as it is at the top of the backswing? Or is your head moving closer to the target? Cheers
@user-mx1ij3ze9v2 жыл бұрын
@@Hittingitsolidappreciate the feedback! Just looked at some of my recent videos and I don’t take the club back far Da inside nor does my head move on the downswing Any other suggestions are welcome Thanks !

Only way I can hit the ball. I went to a fitter and he added a full inch on my irons and that coupled with the 3/4 half swing I can carry long distances. 7 iron ~165-170 carry

Tony is 6ft 5 Jon is 6ft2 and linebacker size they both have more power than most imo.
@Hittingitsolid2 жыл бұрын
Hey Randy, yes they use the size they have very well with their shorter swings. A smaller individual can generate more speed and power with a shorter backswing if they move their body the right way. Cheers

I've never hit a ball as clean, compressed and centered as when I make this swing. The ball spins back 15 feet with wedges. Its insane.

@@Hittingitsolidjust one question Troy. When hinged at the top, the left hand is cupped, and club looks open on the way down. When I try to flatten or bow it, my arms tend to move out away from the body and the club whips inside. Is this something you see a lot of with this swing?
@Hittingitsolid Жыл бұрын
No, not really. Try to feel the trail elbow tucks closer to the body on the downswing. This will stop the arms from moving out and away. @@edwardsroba

Pro's don't really bring their backswing any further than shown here. It's hard to catch because they do it so well. They utilize the half swing then the illusion starts as they rotate their torso and hips which appears as a full backswing.
