A lot of people don't realize that the rebels are attacking from both the north and the south. And the southern rebels are getting very close to Damascus.
@gloriousblobber964716 күн бұрын
A lot of their troops were redeployed towards the southern opposition likely because they were a more direct threat. The road from Hama or Homs to Damascus is long and weakens Rebel supply lines. However it won’t matter since they are dealing with captured equipment en masse. The reforms to the military organization by the Russians don’t help either. Syrian officers lead from the rear instead of the front as before in the early 2010’s.

The deciding point would be Homs. The other northern cities were taken in the surprise attacks and defenders decided to withdraw than to die to fight another day. Within a few days it is impossible to organise a fighting force. Now Hez and others are preparing a defensive move which if successul will stop the advance and give time for Syrian allies to join. If Homs again failed then Syria is finished. If Homs can hold and stop the advance then the jihardist will be in trouble.

@@hkfoo3333 Okay heres a explanation: The SAA left a lot of equipment that wanst even destroyed by them. Homs is the last city before the Western coast is completely cut off, you would try everything to stop the rebels at Hama. There are also rebels in the south now, 15km from damascus, who basically cut off Assad form Lebanon. SDF and US backed rebels in the east, who know controll the streets coming from iraq. So now Assad has to defend from three sides, with a lot of equipment lost and demoralised army, while its last link to its mayor support centers AND its captial are under severe Threath. Its allies meanwhile are not only inconclusive, but would have tho fight their way through.
@duncan843716 күн бұрын

@borisgurevich550416 күн бұрын
@@zaphod22 it is crazy to spend so much time and fuel daily. But fighting your way through is not the same. It is all relative. The distance between Homs and Damascus is 3 to 4 times the distance between Hama and Homs, and about the same as between Aleppo and Hama. The distance between Turkish and Israeli borders is less than 450 km all up, so in some sense all cities in western Syria are close to each other. But that is not what the statement implied. It implied that Homs was somehow a gateway to Damascus, which it is not. To make another comparison, it is the length of the whole of lebanon..

Turkey, Russia, and Iran seem to have agreed that the Assad government is no longer needed for their goals in Syria. As Turkey’s proxies make progress in the country, Russia and Iran have not stepped in to stop them, indicating they are either allowing or supporting this shift. This change in the power dynamics in Syria also reflects a broader strategy to reduce U.S. influence in the region. Israel, however, is deeply concerned, as it has started calling Turkey’s proxies "terrorists." This is a clear sign of Israel's fear that Turkey, backed by Russia and Iran, is gaining control and pushing out U.S. interests, which shifts the regional balance of power.

They don't stand a chance against veteran rebels and Jihadist like HTS, that's why we see them running. Only the professional soldiers like Republican Guard and Air Force soldiers stay and fight, but they only make up 30% of Syrian Army. ( The rest is Naval infantry and Military Police ).
