There is no substitute for manners. It doesn't matter who you are, what you do, culture, language artist or collector. Manners are universal.

Manner is an interesting word. We don’t have the exact word in Mandarin, but translate to politeness and etiquette. It’s not far but it didn’t capture the essence of the etymology “belonging to the hand”. It’s more like “customized and bespoke” in the original Latin version. I prefer the connotation of “by hand” to “etiquette”. I would rather take pride in the know how, but in inventing a technical barrier to social mobility (haha not like I can invent any).

@@VeryPrivateGallery Being polite to someone, I think that's at the heart of it all. Etiquette is definitely part of it but when I hear that word I think about table "manners", eating with your mouth closed, not pointing with your utensils or playing with the food...hhh And thank you for sharing the "by hand" part...first time hearing it. Sorry but most of the works in these things are never very interesting or exciting,also impossible to understand or trying too hard, or too simple, like pieces of string hanging and it totally turns me off.

Yeah, I get you. There are very few pieces I would take home myself. Well, I guess as long as one person falls in love with it, it's enough to make a sale, then everyone goes home happy.
