I didn't notice much in the way of it being considerably quieter than previous years. Thanks for the compliments about the edit - I was bored of the same old routine of standing in front of a bike on a lift and jibber jabbering about it.

Thanks for the review! I just picked up my 2024 Primavera and it's fantastic. Rides completely different from the Buddy 170i I had before, however the torque on the Buddy was a little more than the Vespa. Regarding the EU turning signal pod removal, were you able to remove the pods, front and back, without any new hardware? If so, how did you plug where the pods were before as well? I was hoping to have my local dealer do this but they of course aren't sure yet as they just got these 2024s in.

There’s some wiring to be done to make it happen. They can probably figure it out if their mechanics are electrically inclined. Congrats on getting that new scooter!

@@VespaPortland Sure. Since we're talking: one thing I've noticed is the new black piece on top of the glove box that you mentioned. In my opinion it looks awful, cheap and breaks the smooth, continuous lines that have traditionally characterized the Primavera's design. What does it serve anyway? Is that thing removable? What's your opinion on it?
@VespaPortland2 ай бұрын
That same piece was added to the GTS in 2023 when they went keyless. It doesn’t serve any specific purpose that I’m aware of. The keyless Primavera Tech scooters are starting to land in dealerships now so it was probably a design consistency thing. I prefer the older style smooth painted glovebox but this new design doesn’t repulse me.

I enjoy your videos all the way down here in 'Bama. I was wondering if the new Evap system would fit the 2022/23 models. In this part of the U.S. most people just remove it. I did on my GTS, but I've had no issues with the Primaveras.

Thanks for watching! Hard to say. We don’t take them out and no one has ever asked us to put one in. 😆
@geraldscott43022 ай бұрын
Why on earth (or any other planet) would you want an evap system? I've removed them from every scooter and motorcycle that I've ever owned that had one. Same thing with the PAIR system if they had one of those.

I learned to ride on a bike like the Vespa. It was a Kymco Like 200i. That design is really good for new riders I think. Very nimble and light. If you are new to riding and need to master the slow speed maneuvers there is nothing better. That style doesn't really work in the area where I live out on the roads (they are a bit too small), so I upgraded to a maxi scooter.

You have a red primavera 150 in the US? Here in Italy it’s only the 125 and it’s from the product red campaign so it’s all red even the seat. For the primavera it’s orange instead of red, they call it arancio impulsivo, meaning impulsive orange. Not really liking it.

What’s the top speed and mpg of these? I know that’s subjective based on weight and such but I’m waffling between this and a gts 300. I live in a rural area so the speed limit would be 55mph or less most of the time.
@VespaPortland7 ай бұрын
You can expect about 65mph, tops, on flat ground. High 50s uphill assuming you don’t come off the throttle. My low fuel light comes on around 120 miles no matter how I ride (highways or surface streets) but when that light comes on there’s still a half gallon of gas left.

From out of left field, Do you ride only Vespas? I only ride Vespa..no other types of motorcycles
@VespaPortland5 ай бұрын
Yeah, exclusively scooters. It’s the thing that most closely resembles the feeling I got while riding a BMX bike from back in the day. I’m too old to try to learn how to go fast on a track with a sport bike. Dirt bikes are cool but it means I need to load it up and drive somewhere to ride it. Never had an interest in larger bikes like Harley cruisers. Adventure bikes seem fun but most of my riding is in the city and I’m not realistically going to take off for a few days on a longer ride. Maybe someday. At this point I just want good gas milage and something that gets me to a burrito. 😆

Vespa just keeps making these scooters with more garbage on them to fail, and raise the price, and make it almost impossible for an owner on independent shop to work on. I'll be keeping my beautiful 2006 GT200, which I finally found a way to do away with that horrendous immobilizer system on.

Im a dealer. I enjoyed your video, great editing. I bought a 2022 Vespa Primavera and I hate it. IMHO, its expensive, slow and has poor designs all over it... like the oil drain plug/center stand location being at odds... or the fact that it doesnt have a flat floor space. I could go on... like how its overcomplicated to open the seat compared to other brands. In 15 years of experience, there is no way Id ever recommend this bike over a SYM Fiddle or SYM Citycom. Even a Cabo 200i, Havana 200i or Buddy 170i are way more practical, affordable, easier to work on and faster. It seems like no one has the guts to tell the truth about Vespas. The price is way over what comparable GOOD scooters cost. Just my opinion. Its not a bad scooter, hey its not an Icebear or TaoTao but its also not worth paying $6500 or whatever out the door. For $3000 less, you can get a scooter that is better in my opinion. Ive riden dozens of different models in 15 years and have commuted over 50,000 miles on motorscooters.
@VespaPortland7 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and sharing your opinion. I differ a bit in that I feel like nothing I’ve ridden in the scooter world comes close to the feel of the Vespa but different stokes for different folks! Take care, friend.

@@VespaPortland There are features of the Primavera I am enamored with, its not like I think its all bad. I liked the night riding. The headlight is powerful and the cluster gauge lights are beautiful. And while it does feel heavy, its SOLID and will hold its line and has mass. The Primavera has perfect acceleration so that is welcome but I feel like the powerband peaks out early but this can be chalked up to emissions junk and not everyone really needs to hit 60mph anyway, its not made for highway so demanding that it go faster or that it be lighter may be unfair. The single sided front shock is gorgeous. The seat bucket is clever. The stock tires are first class rubber. The plastic gas tank is smart. All in all its a perfectly fine scooter. Im just picky because at that price, I can literally get a SYM Citycom 278cc liquid cooled, fuel injected, capable of 80mph with 16 inch rims and the same amount of storage. And the Citycom will endure with respect to longevity. And working on it is easier. Or I could save $3000 and get a Havana 200i that is very comparable to the performance of the Primavera. So yeah, Vespas arent bad but the last decade demonstrates that other brands have closed the gap and even surpassed Vespa in my opinion. That would of sounded like blasphemy ten years ago but at some point a brand has to stop depending on its iconic nostalgia and admit where it could improve. To their credit, its been hard to stay competitive considering the Powersports Industry has been in freefall for 15 years. And with the continued insanity of E-alternatives plaguing our industry, we could see manufacturers in grave danger but that is a whole other topic. Be well and hope we all survive this season and sell tons of Vespas and Syms.

The turn signal relocation for the front and back… are you using OEM Vespa parts from euro bikes or is it an aftermarket setup? Looks like the only upgrade I would do to my bike once I got it.

Our mechanics reroute the turn signal wiring and make a few adjustments to finish the job. No factory kit exists. Scooterwest sells a kit however if you’re a home mechanic.

@@VespaPortland also… no more key fob separate from the key itself like a 2002 Chevrolet?🥲 I didn’t see you with one unless I’m blind. I remember the older sprint in your video during Covid times having one, where you rode to get ice cream. If that’s the case, this is all great stuff. No more charcoal canister hump, and now we have a temp gauge (hoping it’s oil temperature).
