I’m gonna stick with him regardless. I rarely use Demon swoop for Oki I usually just dash in or use teleport. Forward medium I only use when I know it’s going to connect so I think I’ll be ok there. OD Shoryu is tragic because I wish it was 1800 instead of 1700 but even for the combos that I use it in you’re still getting close to 30% damage depending on how you use it. No risk, no reward.

@ Of course. Quite honestly, the only complaint I have with Akuma as a character is that Raging Demon has very little utility in online play despite it looking the best it’s ever been. If I had my way with the character players would be able to Kara cancel into Raging Demon from any of his normals with the exception of crouching light kick. Just because it would be fun for the players and it’d give the move much more utility instead of it being a Hail Mary move.

I don't think this matters too much. The demon flip nerf should put him at -3 if you jump over them. Still safe. You can go for it after his Adament Fist and if they stand up in place just hit punch to pressure with the chop instead and if they back rise, just land and you are still at +2 like before. Also just an empty jump forward after Adament Fist puts you in throw range at +2 also if they stand straight up. Most Akuma's only use Adament Fist as a combo ender to link to lvl 3 anyway so that's not that big a deal. Tatsu into sweep is better overall for oki mixups being +4. The fireball game will change but Akumas like Kawano, Shuto or Bonchan use less fireball anyway and they are the best Akumas. Regular players won't notice any of this in my opinion.

The point of Heavy Demon after Heavy Adamant Flame was that it was good meterless Oki regardless of wake up option. Doesn't matter if -3 is safe, no one will go for a setup that leaves them negative, thats just bad. Reacting to wake-up option mid flip won't be consistent for most people. Plus there's the fact that move was also good at getting you out of the corner. +5 frames of lag means it's easier to punish. Plus the reduced back walkspeed, which is very noticible. I think you are underselling these changes, they are very significant. Time will tell, but I'm betting Tokido is bursting with laughter because Ken somehow got far less nerfs than Akuma.

@arielgomes7989 most people looking to just side switch out of the corner do heavy flip into heavy dive kick. You give up a lot of damage to do a light tastu with no follow up just to demon flip to the other side. I don't really see it used much at high level play. People just cr HP into heavy Tatsu and they are halfway across the screen and you got max damage. Anyway we will see but I but other than the occasional extra trade on fireball here and there that this means very little. Compared to Ed or Bison this is minor. The more significant factor will be who got buffs.

Although there's this narrative that akuma is op and untouchable (lol), currently at high level nobody plays him outside of japan. At capcom cup currently there are 2 akuma mains and is very underrapresented compared to cammy or ken or even guile.. Now probably is the right time to switch to other shotos

Gouki & Bipson are supposed to be top tier their boss characters. The demon swoop nerf ruins one of my setups. What do you mean "untouchable". In every version of SF since I've been playing (4) whenever there is an update he's always getting nerfed.

Gouki has been broken in soo many versions of SF. Yes they nerfed him but not in a sunstantial manner, he has always been top tier and got a slap on the wrist compared to Bison.

You'll find a new set up I'm sure. I think it's important to recognize that you're a big fan, so are naturally annoyed about him getting nerfed, but if the rest of the player base is calling for it, I look at like they can't all be wrong. This is coming from a Bison player, and am sad about his nerfs, but the vast vast vast majority of the player based is stoked, so gotta just take it on the chin I guess. I think they're both still very strong so no worries.
