Definitely want to use it for whiff punishing not as a poke. Another good time to use it is if the opponent just walks back and forth too much.

@@TekkLuthor I like to use it after a spacing trap. But other than that, yeah I agree. It can be very devastating if you don't land it. And tbf the reward seems pretty negligible when compared to its risk as well. The move I usually throw out after a spacing trap is usually f.HK now. It has better pushback. And if it hits then I convert it in to OD Tatsu. something else I also use after a spacing trap is donkey kick. It will usually lead in to another spacing trap if it hits at just the edge of the move

@@itsmesteve1081 What's a spacing trap? One way I use it is that I know it moves Ryu up by a few pixels. So sometimes I'll purposely miss and the person opens up so I follow up with the same kick again but I shaved off like 6 pixels of motion forward.... it trips people up. #Nopun

On the side switch stuff. You don’t even need to dash back. As long as you OD donkey kick when they crumple, you’ll still get the dash into light or medium DP which have different oki situations.

Ryu is kinda vanilla. Only thing I like is that he has a true normal overhead, and can hit confirm 3 cr. Jabs (like Akuma, but not Ken)

Anytime youre +3 a good option is back heavy punch because it will trade with jabs and you get a massive trade combo

That is very risky because b.HP has a very short range and lot of recovery time. The only good thing about it is that it comes out in 7 frames and can be converted in to H Donkey Kick and H Hasho. And if you're opponent decides to block it, you're going to get Punish Countered. If you're +3 then you might as well just go for a st.LP, cr.LP, st.LK, cr.LK, st.MP or cr.MP. You can also go for a Throw too, depending on how close you are. b.HP will give you a lot of time to hit confirm and follow up, but if your opp doesn't press a button then you will get Punish Countered. High risk, high reward. I might even say the risk outweighs the reward because you could have just achieved a very similar advantage state if you just used something faster like the aforementioned moves I listed up above. At least thats what I think

Nah man u just do bk hp into light or od hasho to make it safe/keep your turn. If u trade the hasho doesnt come out. I got this from Semy28 gawd Ryu himself. Trust.
