I only really started my Sleep Token journey just over a month ago, but in that time I've hardly listened to anything else - when I wake up I've got their lyrics going round the inside of my head as my waking thoughts and I have to listen to that specific song to quiet them - it's like being hungry for a specific food and nothing else comes close, even if prepared by a Michelin-starred chef! My other half bought me the new Nick Cave CD at the weekend and I haven't even listened to it yet. It's not that I don't want to, but I just can't quiet the Sleep Token-ness in my head long enough to allow me to.

Will's version is an Offering, so to speak. It's wonderful in its own right. I really dig it and it showed how nuanced of an artist he is. But this song is Vessel's and he totally encapsulates it. The runs and emotional imprints on this song.... it's just a mood. ALSO, I love that you have reacted to both now! I'm stoked for you guys to keep going down the Tomb rabbit hole. A lot of these songs get overlooked but there are some real bangers on this album. Atlantic & Hypnosis are strong openers but the 3 singles (Alkaline, The Love You Want, Fall For Me) are all great, Like That is my favorite from this album, and Descending is a sleeper hit. For the softer side, I really love Missing Limbs and Telomores

Listening to KZbin at home while i cleaned I heard Will's version which snapped my head around to see what the song was and by whom so i could save it so was surprised it was a cover, I had not heard of Sleep Token nor Will but thankfully I looked them both up and holy s@#t I loved the Will Ramos version but wow listening to the original was mind blowing. The way Vessel accentuates the last letter in each line ending, his breath work all of this song had my heart racing and opened me up to a whole new genre of music. I liked Will's version, but it's not something I can go and listen to repeatedly like the original is; It literally pulls you into a hypnotic-like state which is incredible and masterful. Will is very talented but he just isn't comparable to Vessel's ability to convey/evoke emotion from the listener in my opinion. Even if you listen to the Pain Remains trilogy by Lorna Shore with Will's vocals, for me the music and the video are the parts that evoke emotion, not Will's vocals. Idk, maybe I'm weird haha but that's just how I feel about it. For me the greatest vocalists are not people who can hit notes perfectly or have a high range or varied screams, it's the ones who can pull me into their soul and their world along with them, and that is rare indeed. Vessel has that ability. Anyway, great reaction as I knew it would be. You guys should check out II's drum playthrough of Hypnosis too, it's very cool to see a master on the drums at work (or play?). I really don't know which version I like more. Vessel's version with all of his emotions, or Will's version with his own spin on it. I loved how Will did put some additional lyrics at the end of the song, I kinda miss this in Vessel's version. But the song itself is one of my favorites from Tomb.

The drawback of everyone wanting to preserve their identities, means that we can’t share vessels first band. If you really want to see this kind of writing in it’s most infant state, you need to check out that band. But unfortunately I would get blasted or this comment it would possibly get deleted if I shared the name. Not to mention some of the other projects that II’s drummed on. You really get a sense of their style and their attributes.
