When John Major lost to that landslide in 1997,he declared straight away that it was "time [for him] to get off the stage". Given a similar thrashing at the polls I'd be surprised if Sunak won't be doing similar in a month's time. Why didn't one of his team,if not him, realise the significance of the date well in advance and put a big note in their diaries to keep it clear?

It’s unforgivable that a British Prime Minister would just casually ditch the last DDay commemoration service that would be attended by Veterans that likely won’t live to see the next one. It’s beyond appalling! There’s no excuse for it and it shows just how little he thinks of veterans, their sacrifices or anyone that isn’t a Californian tech bro, he should resign, he’s wholly unqualified for the position of Prome Minister. .

This is absolutely unbelievable. I'm shocked and stunned and taken aback and ... honestly, I can't think up enough descriptions of how profound this is. I'm a lifelong student of politics and history, with a master's degree in the latter and a DEEP interest in the political history of several major players on the world stage over the years, the UK absolutely being one of them. And I have never seen anything like what we are witnessing right now. I cannot think of a single situation in history where anything even REMOTELY comparable has happened, NOT EVEN the destruction of the political left in France after Francois Hollande's disastrous precidency. Not even that. This is beyond that on every level. We are talking about a party which, five years ago, won 365 seats in parliament in what was widely described as an actual landslide. An EIGHTY seat majority. And now this. This is ... this is mindboggling. This is the party of the Iron Duke, of Lord Palmerston, of Benjamin Disraeli, of Winston Churchill (twice) and ... ew ... even Margaret Thatcher ... ew ew ew ... And they may be on the verge of ceasing to exist. I feel like I'm a witness to a historic, political event of absolutely -epic- proportions.
