These videos can really help me. I am not into full coverage pictures but am now working on a project I started many years ago but recently got it out and the fact that it is about the nativity is a good reason I got it out now. The center square is the largest depicting the Savior’s birth in the stable and using the abc alphabet,each picture all around this center stitch of Mary,Joseph and the manger is where I began because it seemed the most time consuming and all around it the alphabet depicts a picture of the nativity and how beautiful the alphabet is at telling the whole story. I got it out again and am making good progress,but I absolutely cannot stand any interruption so I usually use time when I am alone. I will be g.lad to finish it,but not sure that will happen in 1 month,or ten months or a few years but the best thing to do is enjoy the experience the hobby of cross stitch and the pride one may feel of achieving a goal.

Oh gosh. Thank you so much! I haven't cross-stitched since I was a pre-teen and now I'm in my thirties. I needed some good advice and received it in this video. I bought a pattern that is incredibly large and daunting. Can't go back on it now! One stitch at a time I guess.

Hi from Australia! I love cross stitch, but have been stalled on a large project for a couple of years (other hobbies - gaming and reading - distracted me), but watching you has motivated me to at least get that project finished and given to its intended recipient. You've not only motivated me, but after watching only eight videos you've already taught me new things, like not to tape the edges and to mark the fabric to make counting easier (another reason I'm stalled on that major project is that I made a huge mistake with the counting and a whole chunk is over by a couple of stitches which has left me having to make up the border pattern on my own because otherwise it won't match up properly). I really like your attitude and easy way of communicating with us (I tried a few different cross stitching channels before I came across yours and I just didn't mesh with anyone else the way I did with you) and I'm looking forward to binge-watching your videos from the beginning over the next few days. Thank you for what you do and have a great day stitching, Sarah.

I use the organizer boxes and use a piece of printer paper and section it off like the boxes. I use a pencil to write in the numbers and tape it into the lid of my container.

If you have a DMC Color Card and arrange your floss in the order shown on the card- not only do you have a swatch card but you have a handy need to your storage! Much like an old type card catalog- handy tool!

I love your video!! I am the same way on my cross stitch. 1 page at a time and I myself rather use a small hoop than those big ones!! I'm a one hand stitcher too. Thank you for the other great ideas!!!!!

I have been stitching more in hand this past year. I am right handed so I roll up the left side of fabric to the point of where I want to stitch. So far it’s working well. If I use a hoop, I prefer wooden because I feel that it holds the fabric better than the plastic. I also only use the smaller hoops so I’m closer to my stitching. I have a bad neck too. Told it’s arthritis do to years of bending over to care for patients. Ugh. I will have to try leaning back when I get the chance to see if that helps. Thank you for your video.

Hi Jules. I started using Q-snaps but not sure if I like them. I never used hoops either. I usually roll up the one side of the cloth and stitch freehand. I'm liking the grid marks. Thanks for showing how to start a project.

Hi! I am on page 8 of a 21 page full coverage (my first one), and I'm struggling with the best way to hold it (currently using the qsnap frame). Another struggle I'm having is what to do with the extra aida. Any advice you might have would be very much appreciated! Thank you for your videos!

I'm so very sorry I hadn't gotten to this before now. I hope you continued to watch my videos as I definitely talk about how I manage that in the Stitch With Me videos. I would get some sort of stand to hold the frame as freeing up both of your hands will help a lot. I tend to bunch the fabric in my lap.

I'm trying to find a way to keep the material rolled,folded or something . I'm talking the material outside and below the hoop..any ideas!? I use a hoop and like u have tried the frames etc...I just can't. I like the hoop,I feel I have more control and can see better,plus I have many back issues so I need to lie back to stitch...anyway I'd really like any ideas on what to do with that material. (I'm going to start a large 25x36 piece..so lots of material )

This was very helpful: thank you! I am starting my first large cross stitch and was wondering how you backstitch on such a large area? Do you stitch everything first and then backstitch, or do you stitch a page, backstitch that page completely, and then move on to another page?

Thank you for such an informative video. I use hoops on Aida, but when I took it off it left a ridge in the fabric. How have you been able to over come the ridges because I really like using the hoops? Thank you
@those_eyes6 жыл бұрын
Some people say washing the hands is key. It is the oil and dirt on one's hands that causes the ridges. Jules has said in other videos that she works on so many projects that she doesn't want to waste time "hopping up" the project each time she wants to work on it.

You base it off of how large you want your project to be. There are calculators online that can help you figure that out...here's a link to the one I use: yarntree.com/java/xstitchcal.htm

I just downloaded my first cross stitch pattern, but am slightly confused. Can someone tell me how you start it? Use to start in the middle and work my way out to the sides. But since there are about 8 pages to this pattern, do you start in the upper corner of your fabrid and stitch each page as it is layed out in the pdf file? Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Jules, I'm new to large projects and just wondering...is it ok for the other stitches to be under a hoop? Or do they get crushed? Also, how do you get rid of the hoop marks without crunching the stitches?
@tracygetty83196 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Only I was told not to wash silk threads...so do you think I can skip the washing and just iron the back of it? Sorry for all of the questions!
