As someone who was in the audience at this show, the cheering that can be heard does not do justice to how WILD the crowd was going, quickly followed by everyone pointing out the change of her character sheet, it was really something amazing.

Totally! It rivaled any sporting event or concert I’ve ever attended. The critters nearly blew the roof off, especially when we saw the character sheet change. What a perfect little touch to drive her transformation home.

Wish I was there. I've helped set up the mics for stuff like this, they kinda have to set it up that way. A crowd can easily overpower the people on stage if it's not set up right, even with their mics.

i couldn't stop thinking about Sam's costume this time, the other times i knew it was him, but this time i just thought it was a different person doing Notts (Veth's) voice. he just looked so different

As a Goblin she had: • Fury of the Small = When you damage a creature with an attack or a spell and the creature's size is larger than yours, you can cause the attack or spell to deal extra damage to the creature. The extra damage equals your level. Once you use this trait, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest. • Nimble Escape. You can take the Disengage or Hide action as a bonus action on each of your turns. • +2 Dex, +1 Con • Common, Goblin • Speed: +30' Loss of "Nimble Escape" doesn't as she could always do that as a Rogue. Even though, she could've kept the same Stat +'s if Sam had Veth be a Stout Halfing (+2 Dex, +1 Con), since her Con went down by 1 while her Cha went up by 1, it's safe to assume that Sam had Veth be a Lightfoot Halfling (+2 Dex, +1 Cha). As a Lightfoot Halfling she has: • Speed. Your base walking speed is 25 feet. • Lucky. When you roll a 1 on an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you can reroll the die. You must use the new result, even if it is a 1. • Brave. You have advantage on saving throws against being frightened. • Nimble. You can move through the space of any creature that is of a size larger than yours. • Common, Halfling. Lightfoot Halfling • Naturally Stealthy. You can attempt to hide even when you are only obscured by a creature that is at least one size larger than you. Also, presumably Matt's going to allow Sam to have her keep "Goblin" as part of the Languages she knows [as it wouldn't make sense to give it up really]. Naturally Stealthy will actually be more beneficial because Halfling's are considered Small while the rest of her Party are all at least 1 size larger (Medium), so that would allow for a better chance for Sneak Attack to trigger. Lucky can be useful up until you roll the "Halfling's '1'" when you roll a 2. The Rogue's "Reliable Talent" only works on Ability Checks & even then ONLY when the Proficiency Bonus is added.

The bigger loss, though I don't know how often Sam had remembered to add it, is the loss of the "Fury of the Small" feature, cause that added bonus would be beneficial on Crits.

@@SPACEHARICE yeah, that would definitely be a DM's call. I know that in the case of Reincarnate, where the race of the body that you come back as is random, outside of DM's overrulling, your Racial stuff gets reset, in that you lose the previous Racial stuff.

I was a little surprised Sam went with Lightfoot halfling. I thought it would've also made sense for him to pick Stout. Looking at the art she appears to be a hearty gal already and having poison resistance/advantage on poison saving throws would've made sense with her alchemy background plus he would've kept her stats the exact same. Lightfoot does make sense for a rogue, but narratively I could definitely see an argument to be had for picking Stout.

I really want to see Travis fucking CRY at some point before the campaign is over! By his own admission Grog let him emotionally detach in a way that made him not get broken up about stuff like character deaths, and he intentionally designed Fjord to try to have more emotional attachment for this campaign.

But a small part of me hoped that when they changed her back she'd go home to her family and be like a hub point for the Nien, like a home base with an alchemist. If Sam Riegel had come out wearing gold chains, eating watermelon and singing gangsta rap, you'd all be decrying him as the most insensitive jerk ever, and rightly so. This really isn't all that different from that. You're just dismissing it because the culture he's making a mockery of happens to be white.
