Also just a quick note for those who might be confused/angry for what Sam did and why. When the party was fighting the black ooze in one of the previous Aeor ruins, Sam had used the dagger in its throwing capability against one of the Oozes but missed. Matt even said something along the lines of “Veth needs to get the dagger back, needs to”. We know the dagger is cursed, its a curse of greed and a curse of the heal dice death. The Greed curse is and or was another factor in this sort of situation, so obviously Sam would use halfling luck when his party was low key threatening him and using spells against Veth, it was a choice made in like 80% character cause of the curse and 20% trolling for the party really pushing for the dagger to be identified again and stuff. It was a good choice even if you think its “not his character” or “trolling to the next level” because clearly it was. It’s all fun in games so just enjoy the game, the curse is gone, things will be “normal” again

I'm sorry controversial opinion but I love Sam for moments like this. Like in the Laughing Hand fight when Veth was mind-controlled, Sam totally went with it instead of having Veth act conflicted. He recognises misfortune and curses and being a fun part of the game - If everything went according to plan all the time then where's the fun? If I was in his situation I'd use my Halfling Luck as well bc it fits what my character would do under the curse. This could be considered in character, since Veth was fairly chaotic and happy-go-lucky. However, in this instance the dagger was literally forcing Veth to do everything in her power to not let it go, so it fits that it's the one circumstance she would use her racial feat. when Matt explains the extra damage effects on the dagger, Liam even said "I feel like we learned that..." and Matt replied "You did." I guess Matt figured it was a good time to relieve the tension in the room since, with Veth successfully unattuned from the dagger, the cat was out of the bag. Though, to be fair, Sam explains the curse instead of Matt. So when Matt says "its also cursed" maybe that's not him providing information from identify, that's just him explaining what's going on for the rest of the party. I'm kinda of baffled by people not getting the fact that the dagger is inducing Veth to act against letting go of it. The wisdom saving throw should have given it away. And trust me, items that force your character to act in a certain way aren't uncommon at all in D&D. We just had one in our campaign where, in order, the character attuned to the item, made a wisdom saving throw, failed, waited for everyone to go to sleep, left the house, gave the item to some poor soul meant to be its next victim, came back, went to bed, then woke up without any memory since the moment they attuned to it. *Trust me, if you grab something and the DM says "wisdom saving throw", expect to have to play your character a "little" different for a while.*

I blame CP1 and the Craven Edge incident for taking away the sheer brilliance it would have been if Veth just dropped mid fight from like a healing word or something. The cast didn’t give a shit about meta gaming they all collectively went “nah not going through this bullshit again” lmao

I think it's hilarious and 100% in line with both player and character motivations for Veth to do everything she can to hold onto her cursed dagger. This is how cursed items work, folks. I'm sorry if you're used to a world where consequences don't exist, but I applaud the hell out of Sam for playing Veth this way considering the item is cursed. Excellent role playing, excellent entertainment, excellent reveal.

People complaining about spoiler in the title. Doesnt really spoil much if ya don't watch it and why would ya watch a highlights clip if ya haven't already watched the episode.
@High-LordHarza3 жыл бұрын
Because youtube recommends stuff, and you can't change what it recommends. If you've watched the previous episode's YT upload, or any other highlights, guess what might show up in your recommended even if you haven't watched the latest episode, which the title spoils? If it didn't read "I can reroll 1s" it'd be fine.
@arthaiser3 жыл бұрын
This thing can perfectly appear on recommended. Videos like these appear on sunday to me. And i cant even watch the episode until monday. Everything on that title spoils quite a bit.

I had a recommendation when I was just getting into campaign 2 for the first time. I was on, like, episode 10, and was super excited. Then a highlight video got recommended in my main feed entitled "Molly's Death C2 E26". So yeah, I totally get the spoilers complaints. I had the biggest moment of the early campaign spoiled for me because of the KZbin algorithm and someone's video title.
@EstebanBrenesV3 жыл бұрын
@@High-LordHarza But seriously though dont you have to actually watch the thumbnail first before reading the title? and then click on the video to actually confirm it is a spoiler? Cause honestly I have like hundreds of videos in my recommended and if I see a CR thumbnail on a weekendI dont even have to read I just know is from last thursday, also "dagger identified" ok that means thy probably tried "I can roll 1s" You can assume that is the identificationbut actually it is not?? Saying directly what the curse does would be a spoiler but even then withput context is not a spoiler, yet what people call that is the urge to get some not contextualized information be contextualized and for such a thing you find people On the actual video saying they got spoiled, if I dont want to get spoiled (bunch of actual examples MHA, several series etc...) I just read FINALE in the title and even if the title says the death of.... I JUST DONT CLICK ON IT, yes the title told me something is going to happen, is the finale so SOMETHING has to happenI just dont actually go by the urge and spoil myself

Dagger was identified before, thing with Identify is that it doesn't reveal curses
@brittanyanderson973 жыл бұрын
I thought Caleb cast identify on the dagger when they got it?
@BW-fe8dq3 жыл бұрын
Hey, he did but identify generally (DM's discretion) doesn't identify curses. Legend lore does the best job, besides a wish spell, at learning enough to figure out its cursed. Usually the DM (Matt did this) will give a pretty detailed description of the cursed object in a way that should make you question it.

Identify (a 1st level spell) usually can't identify that an item is cursed. The Legend Lore (5th level) spell, however, *can* identify cursed items. I could see it as being a case where Caleb's first attempt to identify it informed him of what the dagger could do but not that it was cursed because his skill as a wizard wasn't as good as it is now, so a second attempt to identify the dagger revealed to him that it was cursed. The good thing is Caduceus' Insight check alerted him that something was "off" with Veth, and that led to the entire party placing more scrutiny on what otherwise may have been overlooked. Even more-so that it drew attention from both of the party's Clerics who could remove the effects of the dagger's curse on Veth via Greater Restoration, at which point Veth herself may have known enough about the dagger to simply tell the rest of the party (and to now want to stay very far away from that dagger).

Ok just to let y'all in to the know. The ruby hilted dagger is cursed, it originally came from Shadar Logoth in wheel of time series. And the entire 2nd campaign is telling the story of EotW. You have to listen closely to catch every reference and side glance. Helps to watch episode 1 and listen to how they describe what they did in their 0 game. And who they are introduced with is key. The only one who came different was yasha and thats because she didnt get a zero session.
